DX11: Yes or No?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 10:33 am

I recently read a news story dementing that a DX11 patch was confirmed but then I saw this: http://i.imgur.com/Wf4L5.jpg

Sooo... Is it coming or not. Alot of hardcoe PC-gamers are boycotting C2 because of this an well, money is money but also alot of the hype garnered around this game was that it was going to showcase the power of DX11.

I personally have really enjoyed the game alot and my only real problem is the random MP disconnects that also leads to a rank reset of the XP I've gained that session.

And furthermore I seriously don't get why this game would be limited to DX9 when C1 had DX10. The game is wonderfully optimized for lower end computers and on medium it looks alot better than C1 on medium.

Yes, it's coming. The twitter post basically meant that Crytek has 16 milliseconds left to work with DX11 for PC. In computer language, that's NOT a SUPER DUPER short time. It takes a lot to explain but basically, it means Crytek is working with it, the employee is enjoying his work, and after they finish working with the 16 milliseconds, DX11 should be ready.

I bet he's not confused at all now.

More simply put 16ms is a reference to a measure of time relating to rendering a scene in 3D it has no direct relevance to a release date. It's meant to give somebody (probably somebody in the industry) an inkling of what sort of changes they could potentially be making. I don't think it gives us that clear of a picture.

I personally use still Windows XP - because it is pretty stable for windows definitions and it is ok to play games with it and the only Windows license I actually paid for. I still DO care about DX 11 on Crysis2 because it could get the multiplayer hyped again -at the time the issues are fixed.

I would like to use my Ubuntu 10.10 but Wine is a bit unstable. :D

I think it's very important that Crytek suports CE2 for a long time so it gets new features and people start to accept the release circle - as with MMPORGs like WoW.

Yeah I was really hyped about the DX11 patch with custom graphics too but then I saw this on the DX11 forum:

No patch was ever confirmed, I have no idea why this website even posted such information. This thread is locked just the same as the others for trying to spread inaccurate information. When there are any big announcements regarding Crysis 2 they will be posted on gamesas, if you read something about a patch for example, but don't see it on gamesas.com, then it isn't genuine.

I don't understand why they would dement something that would be true or considering the release date was wrong say "We're working on it, be patient" or something. It's really killing alot of the hype and momentum if they are working on it but won't confirm it.

All I can say is when it comes I hope it's well optimised.

C2 in over/extreme settings in DX9 is using on average 95% of my GTX580 to maintain 60 fps.

In it's day C1 added a lot of features in DX10 compared to DX9 which brought any rig to it's knees.

Camarillo said the game will support DX11. If they can find away to do that without a patch it will still amount to the same thing.

Ok, I'm going to ignore your horrible spelling and grammar and say, DX11 does exist and they used up DX10 in the first game so not supporting at least that is, to put it lightly, really f*ck*ng odd.
