Simple graphic tweak: Setting max fps to 30 (video inside)

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 4:10 am

I think this simple idea can bring a lot to your visual experience, it wont give you back better textures and destructible environnements but to me only this is night and day . My normal FPS is 60 and I was kinda disapointed with the graphics out of the box, however forcing the max fps to 30 give a really great REALISTIC edge to the graphics and do not hinder gameplay at all. Here's a video I uploaded keep in mind this a 200 mb video compressed from a 3GB one so in-game is even better IMO. Try it for yourself, put this into your autoexec.cfg file: sys_MaxFPS= 30

P.S. the other videos on my youtube page are based on the same tweak

You gotta be kidding, forcing yourself to play the game capped at a barely playable level is your way of achieving better visuals? I don't know where to start, at how wrong that is, or how stupid, or how I should try to explain why forcing 30fps max and them saying it doesn't hinder gameplay is mind blowingly idiotic.

Sorry man.

I do not understand how 30fps gives realistic edge. Please explain what you mean by realistic edge. Wouldn't that make things a little choppy and less lifelike?

Well to me it makes camera movement more realistic than letting it run to full 60 fps for some reasons, just try it and see if you like it

It probably just makes it look better on his ancient rig.
If I wanted to play at 30 fps I would hang myself with a console power cord.

With graphical tweaks I still play maxed at 75 FPS.

The only way I could see that helping is it would allow your brain absorb info on 1 fixed image for an extra frame making you focus on more details???? - shot in the dark here
