single shot vs. burst or spray ??? how come?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 11:30 am

Iv'e noticed that if I single shot then suddenly ex. grendel can kill with 4-5 bullets.

when doing same on whatever weapon, bullets start to do damage actually and feel like they are supposed to be.

well ofcourse its easier to just spray and in some situations its better to just spray but... whats going on?

why do I have to shoot 4-5 bursts into target witgh grendel, thats... 4-5x 3 bullets
or how come if i use single shot then only 4-5 bullets is enough to kill?

anyone else experiencing this?

is games netcode just so bad that continuous stream of bullets just wont get registered properly?

Single shot 'attachments' in Crysis 2 make the gun more accurate and powerful.

Going by game mechanics alone semi-auto fire (single shots) deal more damage per bullet than on full auto (spraying). However, the net code has already been shown to handle rapid firing (spraying) very poorly. Single shot is the way to go.

uhm but it doesnt show it anywhere... if i select single shot mode under modifications, it doesnt change damage bar.

so how come you know they are actually stronger?

and btw its not in any way logical that single fire makes weapon bullet do more damage.. its.. retarded

That's why I said game mechanics, not realism. I think I've read that info somewhere, maybe in the single player tutorial or the manual.

The reason it takes you 4-5 bursts with the grendel is because you're missing 3 of them.

Against an unarmoured target it takes 1 burst near the head area (2 if a bullet strays and misses), against armoured 2-3. You're probably using it like a scar, and bursting as quickly as you can. Get the less recoil perk, and wait about a second to .75 of a second between shooting.

It really only loses out to the spray and pray weapons at around 5m. Less you can just jump and burst them in the head.

Also the single shot attachments doing more damage may be single player only (thats where it says it), however it does make things more accurate.

dude, seriously.. dont come here telling me that I miss those 3 of them :D
it's like saying that you even dont have game... I dont know it.. do I?

I aint some console nubcake who has played FPS games starting from yesterday.

My experience goes back to year 1995 where ever first fps games started to come that were palyable over dial up modems..

I can tell if there is something fishy or not.

Im lvl 35, I have lvl 3 aim enhance.. etc.

but this full auto vs single shot in multiplayer is either total **** by devs or games netcode is just so bad that half of bullets wont get registered.

Fact is the grendel kills in 1-2 bursts, whether or not the server detects those hits isn't my problem. BC2 had fairly good hit detection, the only thing that was really ever broken was the knife, which it was later revealed to actually be synthetic anyway and not steel.

And crysis 2 uses a weird hit detection system, where if you hit them, even if you're already dead, the shot carries over through lagspace and hits your attacker. So i'm 100% dead certain that the problem is not the weapon, its either you (more than likely) or a crappy server (doubtful considering you're in europe).

Hello Mad0ne, I was playing with you last night. I think you said something like "HOW MANY TIMES TO I HAVE TO SHOOT F***ING S*** F***" or something.

I've tried the Grendel a few times, but it always seems to take longer to kill than the scar - which is unfortunate, as the Grendel should be a good weapon.
