yet ANOTHER DX11 complaint

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 5:02 am

Hi there

firstly to quote an article I read that made me really sad "Crytek has cast doubt on reports that it is working on a DirectX 11 patch for Crysis 2, saying that it never confirmed having such plans."

If you went and Google'd DX11 Games... you can clearly see that Crysis 2 IS ON THE LIST... Since last year this time most people was under the impression that we will have DX11, so what the F$%& is up with CryTom saying there was never anything Confirmed? KAK man! SO THIS WAS ULTIMATLY JUST A SALES GIMMICK?

!!!BUNCH OF LIARS!!!

Thanks,

Saying a game is being made in native DX11 mode and then releasing it in DX9 mode IS false advertising.

I must add, yes the graphics isn't all bad, some textures does svck tho, but it is a good game (campaign wise)

But telling a Nerd one thing, and doing something else SUUUCKS!

And for that reason, I agree that this was false advertisemant

Yeah its pretty sad when you progressively advertise CryEngine 3's DX11 capabilities, release a game on an engine YOU built talking about how awesome the technology is and then don't back up your words. Honestly what did you expect from a turkish dude? You've all heard of turkish prisons right???

sorry to bust a lot of angry bubbles in here, but I have been playing around with DX11 settings on a few of my other games that support it, and I must say that its not going to make the game look that much better. The truth is that this game already looks pretty damn good compared to other things I have seen. I admit that Crysis 1 had more detail in some of the textures, but this game despite some of the obviously bad textures I have seen, on average looks just fine. I think people really need to stop making a big deal out of this. Plus, I have a pretty powerful machine, and DX11 drops the frames dramatically without much to show for it. There are very few machines out there that could run Crysis 2 if it had DX11, and I mean very very few machines, be glad that it looks as good as it does, and runs as good as it does. I know that Crytek and a lot of other places have implied that this game will have DX11, and the fact that they are being so hush hush about it is really lame, and I feel like they lied to us about it too, but if and when it comes out I think you guys will be wondering why you made such a big deal about it, and feel sad that you need to drop another thousand dollars into your machines to get descent FPS. In a way Crytek is doing us a favor by not exposing the weakness of even the most up to date systems, that just wont be able to play it. I think you guys need to do what I did, and do a real side by side comparison of Crysis 2 and Crysis 1 and other games out there to gain some perspective.

But that is EXACTLY what it is, "KAK" - as I said, yes the visuals are good, but DX11 is better, regardless of frame dropping, Crysis always was a brilliant benchmark to PC games, what happened? the went Console and now they svck!

Broken promises...

I have to imagine that DX 11 will released at some point. Nvidia granted $2 million to Crytek for R&D and to provide benefits to their graphic card holders. No matter how angry anyone is for feeling their $60 went misplaced I have to imagine Nvidia is fuming that they spent $2 million and have nothing to show for it yet (especially since Nvidia has advertised Crysis 2 as DX 11 and being the brand the game runs best on). I can't see Crytek abandoning Nvidia, especially if they want future financial support from tech companies.

No, wrong, and no. That is the same deal as early DX10 games that said they were DX10 and didn't look any different and played worse. It wasn't til games were actually built for DX10 that they started to look different. Crysis 1 when it was patched wtih DX10 support is one of those games. I believe it was "Toms Hardware.com" that I was looking at benchmarks on new videocards that they said "There are actual DX11 games, and then there are DX11 CHECKBOX games, which aren't really actual DX11 games."

To say that any new DX game will not look any different totally defeats the purpose of advancing DX technology. Should all games now just stop at DX9 since they "Don't look any different?" It takes developer knowledge to really utilize the tech properly. Crytek has the skills which is why they really should hook their game up with the DX11 tech. It would really make a big difference just as Crysis DX10 patch did.

BTW, a good example of a DX11 "checkbox" game is Aliens Vs Predator. I have it and while it is pretty with DX11, its not really a huge noticeable difference between that and DX9. It wasn't developed for DX11, it was just added to give a slight enhancement.

Hey guys, locking this thread because the OP is spreading incorrect info and even if we removed it, the thread would have also no purpose.

Please re-read any quote you think you saw from me, the only thing I stated was no Crysis 2 patch had been confirmed when a certain website started spreading "officially confirmed by Crytek" rumors.
