Techspot.com test Crysis 2! DirectX 9 is fine!

"Without a doubt we would've liked Crysis 2 to support DX11 at launch, but there are a few advantages to using DX9, the most important of which is that the pool of PC gamers that run somewhat dated hardware will be able to enjoy the game. Three year-old cards like the Radeon HD 4980 and GeForce GTX 285 provide playable performance at 1680x1050 using the Very High quality settings, for example.

Crysis 2 may not be exactly what PC gamers expected, but despite the seemingly console-biased launch, Crytek has proven that it's still possible to create an incredibly good looking game with DirectX 9. Many new DX11-based games have shown the advantages of the newer API, but we're no longer convinced Crysis 2 suffers from its lack of DX11 -- something we never expected to say. "

im happy ive still got a 4870. it works fine for every game including crysis 2!

What is the **** big problem to give an Option from scratch like "Change Dx" "Dx 9" Dx 10" Dx 11" so players with dx9 cards can only play in dx9 and players with a Dx 10/Dx 11 card can play Crysis 2 in Dx10/11.

And i don't give a **** about how good a game can look in Dx9 i don't need any proof of that,i wan't Dx 10/11,cause thats the way to go in 2011 and not saying "HEY LOOK HOW GOOD MY GAME CAN LOOK IN DX9".it could look even better with better lighting and tesselation in Dx 11.

WHERE IS THE PROBLEM?

if this game would have been made for PC FIRST there would be Dx 10/11 now but it's obviously a console port.

I may not represent the whole PC community but the point is we are locked to using only "DX9".

The system should support at least DX10 for newer GFCards and should default to DX9 for minimum requirements.

What is happening now is that DX9 is the recommended requirement not minimum.

Again, when you buy a car from 2011, you want the new engine, the new aerodynamic form that looks and moves 5% better, yes I want the 5% because that was the deal, I don't want the old model that's almost the same but from another generation.

thats the dumbest rational ive ever heard.

Advantage to not having dx11 supported is that older cards (THAT DONT SUPPORT DX11) will be able to enjoy the game? HOW DOES THAT EVEN MAKE SENSE? They can enjoy the game BECAUSE DX9 is INCLUDED, and supporting DX11 would not change that fact.

What a fail of a website/article.

This guy clearly doesn't know what he's talking about. Features which are exclusive to DX11 won't even activate on DX10 and DX9 GPUs, so the owners of those cards won't be losing any performance since they can't enable DX11 in the first place.

He sounds biased and irrelevant. You can't write it's Ok to have DX 9 about the game that promised to bring the gaming experience to whole new level like the first one did in its time. False advertising, angry fans, overall a broken game, ridiculous game reviews, if it was some other game they would tear it apart....consolized interface, consolized gameplay, broken multiplayer (just to add something minor: WTF with the recoil at close range, seriously in 2023 machine guns spreads insanely inacurate around 6ft tall target 3 meters from you), sh*t physics and of course no customer support.

**** U THEN WHY THE **** DID I BUY A GOOD PC FOR
No one made you buy it dumby, and they did NOT falsely advertise the game. It's up to the consumer to stay informed about a product, and we knew in plenty of time that there was no DX9. We saw enough gameplay beforehand to know how the game would play, and the state of the textures etc.

This article is full of **** and it sounds like sponsored by Crytek to milk the crowd, us pc gamers.
My question is wtf do they make new, more advanced graphic cards and want us to buy them?? According to what they say (techspot.com) and obviously "Cryiers" there is no need. Hey, people stick to the old GPU!!!
Looks like I wasted some money on my GTX460, dummy
I hope I've learned the lesson and I won't buy any crap made by Crytek

Battlefield 3 where are you???

And THIS is why PC gaming is dying a slow death. You're a jealous pvssy, Borat. One day, when you sell enough cattle, or some other peasant **** like that, you'll have an almost good card that you'll want supported too.

Entitled to an opinion but the website just went down in my estimation. DX11 is something we should be able to expect and saying it looks good in DX9 is no consolation if you own a DX11 card and it's features remain unused.
