Does anyone use the suit wheel?

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 11:47 am

It doesnt seem anywhere near as fluid as the suit wheel in the first Crysis and im pretty sure its not even lined up properly. Making do without it is quite easy at least as there are only two mutually exclusives modes that need to be toggled. I dont even have the suit wheel bound to any button at the moment because its so clunky.

Does anyone actually use the wheel over button toggles?

Thing is, Crysis didnt have hotkeys for Amor and Cloak the way Crysis 2 has, which renders the radial menu obsolete in C2.
Plus the fact that in the original Crysis you were always in a suit mode, there was no toggling on or off and default was....ironicly....armor mode.

I did. But they've made it so broken, that you're forced to use buttons.

is there a way to use the radial suit menu like in crysis 1? if so how is it done? i loved that about cry 1. id love to be able use it in cry2! i do like how in cry2 you can be in "maximum speed" and cloaked at the SAME time thats really cool. but id use the radial suit menu in a heartbeat if it actually worked right......

...and that armor mode was alot better than this one.

Also Crysis 1 had suit-shortcuts. You didnt even have to use the wheel for anything if you didnt want to.

There's no such thing as "maximum speed" in Crysis 2. It's just regular running. You could do regular running in Crysis 1 with cloak on.

Afaik there was an option to bind a key for every mode. Also, I think the default-mode in C2 is not called "off" but weapon or tactical mode. Or call it "armor-without-damage-absorbing"-mode.

And no, I don't use it as it's kinda hard to use. While in C1, it was "hold button, move mouse into rough direction, let go", here it seems the "move mouse"-part is a bit hard to pull-off, espically when half the stuff is toggled.
Then again, it's only like 3 or 4 keys you need more if you use Nanovision for the wheel and bind the visor and the firemode on the key you used for it in C1, what's left would be the two modes. Optional is granade-key but then, it the first thing you select when you scroll up.

So, overall, C2 never really made me need to use the wheel while C1 did - which STILL had me a buckload of other stuff I needed to bind somewhere which C2 offers on the wheel. But the C1-Wheel then worked fluid and C2 not.

It's much faster than "regular running". Just not as fast as Speed Mode Running.

And I like the new running better. Running at ~25 MPH for 15 seconds is better than going at 40 MPH for 4 seconds like in Crysis 1. Especially in the NYC environment.

I change modes in my mouse extra buttons, so it's much fast and good for me.

And I use my third mouse extra button to melee.
