CryEngine 3 failed? i dont think so!

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 12:57 am

im tired of all the crybabies complaining that the game doesnt look like "OMAGAD BADASSSSS GRAPHICZZZZZZ!!!!"...

People all over the forum are complaining that the textures and etc are dumbed down and such compared to crysis 1. you guys ever stop to think WHY they did that? WHYY OHH WHYYY are the textures not as good as the ones in crysis 1? ...

Take yourself back in time when Crysis 1 was first released in 2007, when it came out there was hardly ANY computer that could run the game on max settings. the game looked absolutely spectacular but it costed a sh*t ton of money to build a machine that could run it(4 YEARS AGO! technology moves fast)

Now if you compare a screenshot of crysis 1 with a screenshot of crysis 2, you can easily tell without a debate that crysis 2 looks much better. but when you put the crysis 2 textures under a super powerful magnifying glass, they look like SH*T!!... as other people describe.

Crytek didnt just aim for the next next generation of eye candy, they tried their damn best to improve the performance of the new engine on modern aged machines.

During the first week of playing crysis 2, i thought i was getting smooth frame rates because of my crossfired ati 5870's. Then recently i found out that crossfire was not working at all on my pc when everyone else was getting flickering video and i wasn't. i later found out that one of my power cables to one of the cards was loose, i put the cable back in... crossfire works like it should now and now my video flickers in crysis 2! i done found a temp fix for it so dont troll :)

We should be saying "GREAT JOB CRYTEK!!" instead of raging -_-

the only reason crysis 1 was good was because it was eye candy. and i dont need to look through a magnifying glass to see that the textures in crysis 2 svck ass. just wondering around the textures look like ****.

I'm sorry; but the performance isn't great, it's just that the settings are low - nothing suggests a well optimised engine, only that they wont allow us to use high graphical options to see how much it burns our rigs - this is especially true with some AA technologies which, were they available in the options, would half your fps - and has been shown to do so via config file edits.

Next: the game doesn't look that good, that's the depressing part. It's a case where an overactive flare lens, and a lot of motion blur are used to distort the true image such that it isn't possible to admire the beauty of the scenery. As soon as you stop and look, things look out of place. The lack of tesselation is also very dissapointing, being an effect that make a huge difference (compare unigine heaven with and without tesselation). Furthermore, I want my volumetric fog/smoke effects to look good! I would also like some physics - it's fun to change the battlefield to your advantage, and it also adds another sense of danger - knowing that, given enough time and fire power, your cover will be destroyed adds a fantastic sense of challenge and fun.

Good job in making a game that can look so good on a console at first glance, and even for a PC, not bad graphics, not brilliant, but frankly - I've seen better.

@KING_OF_SAND
I thought Crysis 1 was a legitimately good game, both singleplayer and multiplayer.

Hey i got a novel idea. DONT RUN THE **** GAME ON MAX GRAPHICS!

@Wampbit yea but the visuals were the overall appeal to the game. more so than the story.

I made a thread about this but nontheless, crysis 1 might have be all out graphics but the story suffered tremendously because of it. In all honesty i prefare playing Crysis 2 on HIGH instead of EXTREME (even though i still get over 100 FPS on extreme) because its easier to see enemies with less eyecandy

ya... i personally didnt like crysis 1 at all, i only got the game as a benchmark. i expected crysis 2 to only be a benchmark game but it turns out the game is actually quite fun!
