*NEW* Killstreak Bug [Confirmed!]

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 1:11 pm

I bet you don't know this one XD (hopefully, or shame on me)

So I had a very lucky run on a half full server:
I called in my Maximum Nanosuit after I died, and quickly got 3 kills (with Retriever), so I called in my Radar.
The whole team (4 people) came rushing to the Crash Site, so I got my other 4 kills.

Now the kill streak display to the left still showed Orbital Strike to call, although I should have had another Maximum Suit.
Now it MIGHT be that I was only on a 6 kill streak, and I just lost track, but the BUG is, that I couldn't call in the Orbital Strike no matter what! It was displayed there for the rest of the round, but I couldn't use it. The server was NOT frozen, the game continued perfectly fine, except I couldn't call in my reward.

I'll try to reproduce it, to figure out if it's related to Orbital Strike or Maximum Suit, but I doubt I'll ever be this lucky again... Maybe somebody with a hack could finally do something good here and test it XD (no, that was a joke, don't hack please!)

If i read correctly, you're suggesting you should've gotten the same killstreak reward (maximum nanosuit) twice in the one life? If so, that's not correct. You only get one of each reward per life.

Regarding the bug where you couldn't call in the orbital and it remained there for the rest of the round, did you die at all during the rest of the round?

No, one Max Suit reward was from the life before. I called it in as I respawned, and it allowed me to kill 7 people. It should give me a Max Nanosuit (at least for next life).

I can only get a reward once per life, that's obvious, but what if I don't use my rewards, don't they stack?
I'll try to stack some Max Radars, see what happens if I wanna call in multiple ones in one life...

I guess I got the second Max Suit Reward WHILE I was still using my first one (from the life before), so I kinda understand it wouldn't give me another one. But still that shouldn't hold me off from calling in my Orbital Strike (which was the only Orbital in that life of course), and maybe give me a Max Suit for the next round.

If it would've displayed Max Suit I would understand that it wouldn't allow it once more for that life, blocking all other rewards since they are stacked below. The point is, it displayed Orbital Strike available on the left (the announcement on the top of the screen is always wrong anyways, if you stacked some - sure you know that).

If you are suggesting that the Max Suit was NOT stacked, basically ignored for that life, then there's still an issue, since Orbital was blocked. Since the stacking is messed up for the reward announcement on top of the screen, there might be a correlation. And since we know that assessment counters and other things revolving around counters and simple math are messed up, we really can't exclude this. (no offense, even Einstein made mistakes!)

And yes, I died once more, because I was fiddleing around with the reward key... Still couldn't call any reward, while Orbital was still displayed. Nanosuit or not, key didn't respond at all.

Quick question: it's known already that you can reach Rank 50 without being able to unlock all weapons, right?

Anyways, thank you for your quick response. I'll continue testing (how could I not, I love this game) and keep you up to speed.

Yeah i had that bug before, when you cant use the orbital strike or the suit disruptor, but it doesnt happen that often. I think that happens when some one uses the orbital strike at the same time as you ( or like a second before ).

I did a little testing and here are the results:

1. If you don't call in your Max Radar...

- ...and don't call in your Orbital, and don't call in your Ceph, you can call in all 3 of them later, without problem. Fine. Only problem that it will tell you "Orbital available", instead of "Ceph available", and when you call in the Ceph it will say "Radar available", although the next available would be Orbital (as displayed on the left). Indexing error I guess.

- ...then die, then get another Max Radar, the first one is lost (you can only call in one Radar, then the left reward display disappears.) Kinda fine, I guess, probably as it's supposed to be.

2. If you don't call in your Ceph... (or another high kill streak reward)

- ...then die, then get a Max Radar, the left display will show you Max Radar ready (of course). But when you call that in, it won't activate the Radar, but the Ceph!!!

(It could be, that it activated my Ceph AND my Radar, but I couldn't tell if it was my Radar actually, could have been somebody elses... If so, my Radar was lost. The announcement at the top of the screen only mentioned the Ceph incoming, but that doesn't mean much as we know.)

So, you can only have one reward of a kind at the same time ready for you, which is fine, but doesn't explain what happened to my Max Nanosuit reward in the first post.

You can have all 3 different rewards stacked for later use, but as soon as you get a Max Radar again, the stack for killstreak reward display will be cleared and filled with Max Radar only, but the actual stack for the killstreak rewards themselves will not. Very weird.

Also some more Medals/Awards Bugs:

"Drunk and Disorderly: play after 11:30 pm and finish in the bottom third 3 times in a row" is actually rewarded if you finish in the TOP third 3 times (not bottom, mislabeled or misimplemented).

"Dirty dozen: score 12 kills without dying" is often rewarded inproperly (e.g. when you go 7 Kills and 4 Deaths...). Another counter reset failure probably.

"Most motivated: get highest objective score" is actually rewarded when you have the highest overall score, while somebody else has the highest objective score (e.g. Crash Site points).

(Jeez, these counters and indexes...)

I think an if check should be implemented for drunk and disorderly, since it can be awarded multiple times, as can 'a view to kill'.

Unlikely, since I had matches with even 3 contemporary friendly Orbital Strikes... But thx for acknowledgement :)

Confirmed (tested again and again)

If you die before you activate your killstreak reward, and get another killstreak after respawn, the display to the left of the screen will show that the new reward (max radar) is available, but activating it will activate the one you saved up, while the new one is lost.
