Crysis 2 Sandbox/Crysis 2 Devmode

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 4:26 am

Why is there no Crysis 2 sandbox?!?! I have seen videos of people using the Crysis 2 Sanbox on Youtube and other various places. I looked onthe disk and nothing is there like on Crysis 1.

Now for Crysis 2 Devmode; my friend who is a computer programer says that devmode is there because they would need it for debugging and changing gameplay settings such as suit energy. Is there a way to access it? I got the game last week and have now almost finished the game with no cheats. I now would like to start a new game and try it with cheats. I tried con_restricted=1 and Devmode at the end of the command line and still nothing. Please reply.

The reason why you see Crysis 2 Sandbox/Crysis 2 Devmode videos on Youtube is because they are using them from the "leaked" developer version of Crysis 2. It contained both of them, however they, as well as the game, are buggy. The Sandbox crashes often (sometimes when making a new map, sometimes when loading a new map while you already have one loaded, and other stuff) while the game has graphical issues (graphics tearing, sometimes textures are weird) and it crashes sometimes as well.

Technically it's illegal to have it since it's a build meant for the Crytek developers only (As evident by the "Crytek - Internal Use Only" freeze that occurs after you finish the Sub level. The freeze occurs right before the Intro that shows the Nanosuit) but that doesn't really stop anyone from downloading it

Crytek said they would release Sandbox at a later time, I believe they said Summer but don't hold that against me. The console (as well as modding attempts) was locked down with the release of Patch 1.2.0. Because of this, the game no longer looks at the "gamecrysis2" folder and instead looks into the .pak files instead. As I said before, the console, as well as certain variables (like con_restricted) were locked down, and those values cannot be changed.

Perhaps at a later time it would be unlocked, but only time will tell...

Dear CODEBRAIN,

Thank you, that was very helpful. now all I have to do is wait and see. I think Crytek has lost alot of fans and dissapointed many. Fans of Crysis 1(Such as myslef) were expecting alot more, only we were to find no devmode, Cryengine 3 Sandbox, and DX10 & DX11. The good news is that there is now a DX11 patch coming out, the bad news is that my graphic cards only support DX10.

Although i am looking into the Nvidia GTX 480 which has DX11 and i am probably going to get two so i can have SLI for MAXIMUM GAME.
