Suggestions for more customizable mouse options

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 8:01 am

The mouse sensitivity simply svcks right now as you can only adjust your sensitivity in increments of 5. You also cannot remove mouse accel without the use of console commands. My suggestions:

-add the option to customize mouse sens to as far as the hundredth or tenth decimal place.
This will help with anyone trying to find the perfect sens for themselves so they can feel more precised while aiming.

-add the option to remove mouse accel, mouse smoothing, and the option to adjust the strength of these options.
Most people have mouse accel and mouse smoothing turned off due to it creating inconsistent mouse movement so this is a necessity. Being able to adjust the strength of these options allow those that still prefer mouse accel to lessen or increase the strength of it.

-allow us to adjust our sens while looking through our iron sights
I feel it's rather too slow to track anyone with the default sens while zoomed and often gets me killed due to the slow tracking. Allowing us to adjust the sens while looking through our iron sights would be a welcomed change.

-allow us to change the sniper zoom sens
It's too slow for my liking. Same reason as above.

-Improve the accel code
users have reported that the current accel code used isn't very good. Improving it will help to allow more fluid movements.

-add pitch/yaw options
allows different sensitivities for looking up and down, and left to right.

-add raw input option
ignores the windows settings to completely bypass windows accel.

-add mouse sensitivity cap
caps how high your sensitivity will go to allow consistent flick shots

-OPTIONAL: adjustable sens while looking through an assault scope
The reason I say its optional is that I do not know whether it has its own sens or it uses the the normal iron sight sens but its high sens kills this sight for me. If you can allow us to adjust the sens of this attachment while aiming down the sights.

That's all I can think of at the moment. If you have another suggestion please feel free to share.

Thanks for reading.

I was coming here to post the exact same thing, but thought I'd check to see if it already existed. Good timing.

Definitely need to improve mouse sens options, PLEASE~!

When will developers give people access to writing in their own variables? I miss the days of UT2K4 when you could just slam your number in and be good to go.

It does work (at least I think it does), but it would be a lot easier if it were to be adjustable through the normal options, plus I don't know how many decimal places it can possibly go.

Man, I'm definitely 100% in agreement with this post. The mouse sensitivity has definitely been a hassle for me and I've had to tweak all sorts of settings in the cofigs. An option to reduce/remove motion blur would definitely be welcome too, since that can be annoying when you're trying to turn around fast and shoot a guy. An option to turn off different sens looking down sights would be good too, since I'm used to using one uniform sensitivity, since its good for muscle memory. Props for starting this thread.

of course the mouse settings are bound to work with some people as its mostly personal preference on sensitivity. But crytek only offered us very poor customization with only the ability to adjust our sensitivity with increments of 5 and no option to turn off mouse accel without the use of console commands. These suggestions add more customization to our mouse and I see no reason why they shouldn't be added.

Better accel code - trying to use the current game accel is beyond awful, I want fluid movement with accel at very low values (like in Quake Live I have a 0.03 accel value)
pitch/yaw - another very important mouse option
raw input - another huge bonus so you can permanently ignore windows sens
mouse sensitivity cap - a great addition to players who like to use accel, it essentially caps how high your sensitivity will get which adds consistency to flick shots.

Every FPS game should have these at the very minimum. This game is far from an acceptable level in terms of mouse customization.

Haha, Crysis 2 will never be like Quake. Crysis 1 was pretty similar to quake tho, just worse. strafe jump, wall jump = rocket jump, rail gun = gauss, low fall damage, armor + health bars, still gun models = cl_bob 0, strafe fights, in crysis wars the SCAR had low recoil almost like the weapons in Quake.... ah, the potential of Crysis...

great suggestions I'll be adding these to the main post.

The correct way to use these features is very simple. If Windows has mouse acceleration ('enhanced pointer precision') enabled on the desktop, enable it in the game. Then provide a checkbox to enable mouse smoothing if the player wants it. This is how it's done in the Source engine and the recent COD games.

There hasn't been a game even close to the potential of quake in over a decade, you have no idea how much I wish for that to happen. I have hope for Brink but I don't have much faith in developers anymore.

Mouse customization is a huge asset to PC games, I wish developers actually cared about this. I'm getting very tired of needing to use my mouses software accel =/

Agree with all of these but er.... the CryTek team don't seem to be do anything
and when they do stuff, and then release a patch, it doesn't work
so........ jus'sayin'

I'll give them another chance. Besides some of these are really easy to implement.
