Weapon balancing

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 6:43 am

I'm really embarrast with this horrible weapon balancing. The SCAR. I know that some games need a starting weapon for noobs. But srsly Crytek. The Scar owns everything. Second Place goes to the FELINE. Third Place goes to the SCARAB.
But more important that people can get matched up with people that unlocked this Gauss or Mike weapon. Maaaan sooo annoying. This Multiplayer is totally broken. Ive got lvl 30 today. But meeeh. its not fun. People Camping more and more.

Then i dont know if this is a bug, But Rockets sometimes dissapear or bouncing away from the ground lol..

Multiplayer needs some big changes and a patch for network improvements/netCode. Hit Detection was fine in the second Demo, but in this final version all went terribly wrong. Fix ur **** crytek

Complete nonsense.

The SCAR is not the best weapon, I would take the Feline and Scarab any day. I think the Feline is the most formidable weapon.

Why are you concerned about the Gauss and Mike? There both rubbish.

Camping is very rare, I die perhaps one in 20 deaths by campers. More often in CTR and CS because no-one bothers with the objectives.

Nobody camps.... Everyone is just **** invisible. Twisted is right about the guns too.. unfortunately the mike and gauss are both garbage. I think the scarab is better than the feline tho, especially if you're not dependent on red dot sights and extended mags. I use the scarab with just the silencer and it's mobility isn't much less than the feline but with better dmg and range. Feline raqes up close tho.

lol might want to edit that...

K-Volt/Feline/Mk60/Sniper Body shots are some of the things I hate (especially sniper body shots! it fires way to fast that barrel would overheat!)

Honestly, I think most of the problems with guns being over or underpowered has to do with the hit detection. I tried using the Grendel for a few rounds and it took me forever to rack up 20 kills to unlock the first attachment, because the hits didn't register unless I was at close range or long range. Close range was the worst, since I would fire a few bursts into a dude's torso and he would end up spraying me down with a Feline or a SCAR. Just spray and praying gives you a decent shot at getting a head shot due to auto-aim.

I can see what TwistedBuddhaX is saying though. If you've got a Feline or SCARAB with a suppressor, you've got a massive leg up on someone with a SCAR because you can fire without being detected.

IDK about that, I always seem to do better without the suppressor than with it on my weapon.

It's just my personal experience. Thought I'd share it with you...

@ Blendassist

I know what bias is retard, unlike some, most of us have a formal education.

This is where you fail, how do you know that I am secretly making out that other guns are better in order to stand to benefit from using the SCAR? Any evidence? No probably you assumed. Bet you believe in Leprechauns and Fairies as well since you obviously don't need any tangible data in order to back up claims.

The Scarab and Feline are better at close to medium range (Do more damage & more mobile than SCAR and have silencers). This is why I said I would take it over the SCAR. I have data to back up my claims.

Look here if you are interested in the truth, rather than proving your right.

So who's the dumbass? I wouldn't bother commenting with any "witty" or vindictive response, there is no need to embarrass yourself further.

Yeah silencers, reduce the damage drop distance so if your prefered style is more medium to long-range you would benefit from not using a silencer.

Although the damage differences is fairly minimal and I don't think it's not worth not having a silencer for three reasons.

1) Silencers have either reduced to no muzzle flash on firing.
2) Less sound (obviously) making it harder to detect your location with a headset or good surround speakers.
3) Not shown on radar = less death = more kills = more killstreaks = more kills = I win more.

Lastly, don't worry about the mobility decrease from the suppressor the effect is negligible. Unlike others on this thread *cough* blendassist *cough* I make assumptions when I have the facts here is what mobility does;

"The Mobility of a weapon is very simple.
The Base move speed multiplier of a player is that of the weapon in his hand and when not zoomed in.
When zooming in, the player's speed is decreased to the multiplier of whatever sight attachment he has on.
For example a player with a SCAR+Assault Scope will move at 98% speed and 50% when looking through the scope.
As for underbarrel attachments' negative effects to the Mobility stat in the weapon menu: no effect (unless that number is somewhere else)."
