The Suit is alive?

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 1:15 pm

Okay so in the beginning you basically die right? When prophet gives you the suit he has to kill himself? I dont understand that at all. In the last couple of chapters you see the suit talking to you saying get up marine, whats with that?? And when you get infected with the "disease" the nanosuit isolates it and uses it for its own purposes it seems? Possibly self preservation for its self? Personally I'm confused but I still love the game and story! Please enlighten me

he killed himself because he was infected i believe, and the only way to break the link with the suit is by death(so he thought, but obviously if you've completed it prophet is still around kinda :P)

Im not 100% certain as it was a while ago, but if you read the first few pages of the crysis book i seem to remember Prophet mention that the suit IS alive. Also the suit is described as bleeding after Prophet takes it off.

Look up the Word Symbiosis.

It will help you abit.

Basiclly its two living organisms working in harmony in which one or the other or both life forms may benefit or not benefit from living together and sometimes after long periods of exposure they merge into one organism becoming dependant on each other to survive.

Prophet was infected so was expecting to die soon and needed someone to take over the Nanosuit as it was humanity's only hope. You were the only military trained person he could trust he could find in time (everyone else with any training in the city was a Cell stooge and out to capture the suit, not inherit it)

As his DNA was linked to the suit, he had to die in order for the suit to reboot and reintegrate with a new host. Alcatraz was himself fatally wounded at that point with the suit merging with his tissue and being the only thing keeping him alive. An unforseen side effect however of Prophet's close integration with the suit was that the onboard AI learnt from him and took on his memories and personality in order to guide you, in effect believeing itself to be Prophet.

The ending is ambiguous, but it's suggested that your personality and that of the AI Prophet have merged into one being, the same way the suit and your dying body have merged into one cyborg entity on a tissue level, making the Nanosuit actually 'alive' at the end (as it's probably got past the point where Alcatraz could be removed from the suit anymore without destroying both)

Actually, a lot of critics say they've misused the word "Symbiotic". Because the nanosuit is not biological, it can only go as far being called a life support machine.

Actually, symbiotic fits quite nicely. The suit is a bioweapon and develops and grows by itself. It is symbiotic as the suit requires a human to do so, and Alcatraz requires the suit to live, thus creating a symbiotic relationship.

the suit is semi biological

i'm guessing prophets 'pyjamas' prevented the suit from trying to merge? i want alcatraz's personality to live so i hope the suit 'is' prophet cause alcatraz's voice was damaged at start

I would say this one....the suit has a brain to body "link" to enable armour, cloak, strength, and speed. Since the 2.0 suit was "linked" to Prophet and the only way to break the sync was to kill himself. He was "to old" to continue the fight so he stripped the suit of and put it on Alcatraz and if you hear all the CELL in the beginning of the game....they all think he is prophet so that says that there is only one left (nanosuit)

EPIC FAIL STEVE, what the hell are you doing in this thread...
