To Crytek, Subject: The Rant

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 12:05 am

Dear Crytek,

**** you. I've sat in this chair for the last month attempting to recover what ever enjoyment I could find in your half-baked concoction known as Crysis 2. With every passing day, I have attempted to convince myself that your creation was salvageable. The last few games I've purchased from EA (and other producers) have come with a patch full of small fixes for minor bugs. To my dismay, the fixes received upon placing the disc in my Xbox 360 tray immediately after purchase apparently did nothing. If they had, I can only imagine how terrible you already knew the game was upon release.

Therefore, again, I say **** you. You've left us here in a forum to bicker at each other. Few of us defending your honor, others baring grudges. The contacts you've left us do nothing but lock threads (this one soon, probably) and merge others. It's like you've hired a few Obsessive Compulsive car salesman to "spring clean" the forums on a weekly basis. The most useful act I have noticed either of them do is regurgitate patch/hotfix notes in a sticky. Let's hope their CTRL + C/V fingers don't get tired, we'll likely not hear from them for months.

One specifically stated he didn't understand one of the functions of the leveling system, and had a player describe to him why there was issues with it.
Hey guys, can someone please explain to me very simply what the issue is with this feature? I don't even know what it is/does so let me know and i'll see if i can get some info.

Cheers!
That was in regards with the "bug" where rebooting resets all of your stats EXCEPT for you Exp. How could an employee not understand something as simple as the reboot feature (AKA Prestige)? You as a company have left us with people who, in all sanity, refuse to play your own, pathetic product. The feeling this gives me is that I've been shat all over and you didn't even give me the courtesy of a towel to clean myself off. **** you.

The hot fix you've applied is a slap in the face. Instead of tackling the actual game breaking issues, you've decided to waste your time on balance. While I've read many a thread on overpowered weapons and/or modules, up until this hot fix, I'd have disagreed. Neither the Scar nor the Scarab have been capable of bursting down (firing 2-3 shots intermittently) a long distance target since this fix. Perhaps that is due to the fact that post patch, I've not had a single game where I'm not seemly off by 1 or more seconds.

My only goal from a week ago was to max my level out, and maybe reboot just for the dog tag, but I've now decided there's no point. I've done nothing but get frustrated with the fact that, despite my own abilities, half of my deaths are due to unknown causes because not even your kill replays know what happened. You've created a matchmaking system that can't even pair like countries together. No, I am not the greatest player on the face of the planet, but I know when to call bull ****. Go to hell.

I personally feel like your reputation is tarnished. Whether or not other players feel the same is irrelevant to me. The only way I'd fall for another Crytek title is if you folded the company and reformed under a different name. I read an employee statement once stating that posts that bash your product lessens your motivation to work on it. It seems to me like you'd lost the motivation to make Crysis 2 half way before the release. No, I won't be selling my copy, because it will serve as a reminder to never purchase from you again. You've announced DLC before fixing the mess you sold me. That alone shows me where your priorities are.

**** you,

Agreed,

Amateur handling of this massive situation is laughable to be honest.

As to wasting time on 'gun balancing' before the matchmaking, lag infested muck that we HAVE TO endure is criminal.

Fix the game before the guns, crazy.

Multiplayer is littered with problems.

If you are one of the lucky ones, then good for you.

Unfortunately there are hundreds / thousands of us with good connections who aren't as lucky as you.

Dedicated servers would rinse all the sh1te out of this game, instead we have the neanderthal P2P bullcrap.

What a joke.

It would have been a favorite for me, had it been fixed in a timely manner. Hell, at the very least, if they had recognized and communicated the fact they knew it was in poor state. But no, they don't even go that far. Instead they put out press releases stating how amazing the game looks.

I understand not everyone has these issues. Which leads me to question what the hell is wrong with my copy? I've played many other games online with no issues, but this one has caused me many nights of frustration. Black Ops is the only other sub par FPS I've played using this connection.

The truth to the matter is that they don't respond because they don't care. They'll push out a patch in another month or so, drop some DLC, then stop supporting it altogether. The PC will have modders but the console versions will be left out to grow stale. Personally, I was hoping after playing the demo that this game would take down COD as one of the top competitive games. I do enjoy the mechanics, when they function properly. But I've grown tired of hoping and waiting. They could have strung me along probably a few months longer had they communicated anything, or at least had admins here that knew about the game.

They don't care. To that I give everyone at Crytek a big **** YOU and Happy Easter.... pricks.

All this problems and lack of communication/problems are just pushing good players away from the game. Well I'm one of them, I bareley enjoy the game anymore. And like I stated on another post a couple of days ago, we has been experiencing what are games with dedicated servers on Gears of War 3 Beta. Finally Gears is playable by players like who barely get the host. I'm having a blast.

Excuses like "we are waiting for the next gen console for years" is just that, a lame excuse. Simply, I can udertand the hype that the company created before the Alfa, we tought that we were going to end up with a great game. Well we did, on paper. Outstandings graphics but poor performance. Crytrek we are just pissed by the lack of communication...
