Single Shot Vs Full Auto

So I won't complain about this because I suppose I understand the game mechanic reasoning behind it, but...

Why exactly does switching to Single Shot cause your rifle/shotgun to do more damage? Should it not just affect recoil accuracy? The Scar does 30 damage when firing in auto, but 40 when switching to single shot... Why? Does the gun just.. fire harder?

Yeah, apparently Cry-Tek decided that Semi-Auto is more powerful, even though its the exact same rifle and bullet.

i think they did a good job with this, because it's way harder to kill an enemy who's firing a fully auto gun with the single shot attachment. imo you wouldn't stand a chance if the damage would be the same.

I think the single shot was mainly for the campaign cause you could be more stealthy by shooting an enemy in the head and kill him without the bullets hitting other objects and making noise therefore attracting more enemies.
