Nano-Vision Obsolete?

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 6:51 am

Hey,

So I've been looking at some PC gameplays of Crysis 2 and seen that users are very Nano-Vision heavy. It appears that they are able to see cloaked enemies a lot easier while using it.

I've used it and found there to be no advantage in SP or MP. Considering that cloaked enemies on the consoles are as clear as day to see I just have no use for this. Also I have NEVER seen anyone in my killcam use this and I must have died 1000's of times in my 3.5 reboots.

Anyone found any use for this? If so, please let me know.

Also, I've created a poll to see how many others also find this pointless or great. Perhaps Crytek could make it so we can see cloaked enemies easier and increase effective range? I don't know.

i used it during the patched beta because i could have sworn it worked on cloakers. now in retail game, it does not so i never use it nor have i been killed by a player using it in over 600 games.

I brought it up previously pretty much being useless against cloaked users. Honestly this "should" be the best counter to cloak but it's not. Hopefully they do an update to this.

I've used it once or twice to get a kill out of novelty... Other than that, it drains too much energy (while stealthed or running) to make active use of it.

That and I usually get distracted by the random fires on maps.

I actually find it useful when I am sure there is a damn cloak person around and cannot find them with the naked eye. Or even just make QBQ simple. It just makes life easy because I see them. No looking just BAM a bright orange outline saying SHOOT ME. No colors except the ones that matter. Yes, on the PC seeing cloak player on bright maps is imposable. So nano vision helps greatly.

i think if there was some subtle changes to it, like being able to see your environment better as well, then it would be a useful tool. As it is, the fierce fast paced game play requires you to be on a constant move, and if you cant see well to get around, its useless.

part of that has to do with the maps though. Most of the maps you cant find a good enough hiding spot to sit and really use the current nano vision to its full potential.

yeah man the videos you were seeing were demo and beta ****. you could see across the whole map damn near. I use it actually. especially when someone cloaks tryintg to run from me cause they will hide in the closest corner they can find. flip the switch and i can see a the person pretty easily. I also think tracker should work side by side with nano vision. With tracker you cant see cloaked enemy steps, nano vision should put the tracks on cloaked enemies

Dude, best idea ever. I thought tracker would track anybody near you cloaked or not but doesn't work like the description says. No I don't need tracker to spot a cloaked person in front of me, that's easy. That seems to be the reason why people think I want it that way. I want it so I can HUNT people down. I could be be running minding my own business and see tracks all of a sudden. Seriously, nothing is more fun than hunting down prey because when you do, it's so satisfying...hmmmmm venison lol

I use it sometimes to locate enemies quickly at close range so I don't have to look so intensely.

Yes. This. This would make it useful. I use tracker to hunt people too, it's in my "Stalker" kit, but the fact that you can't see cloaked people's tracks it really annoying, but it might be overpowered if you could, because everyone would use it and cloak would svck even more than it does now.

Best solution ever. =]

It's a great tool in Single Player. What with being able to see enemies highlited through smoke/fog.

In Multiplayer, it was a different story. Just now, I finished a Crash Site match on City Hall and decided to tinker around with Nano-Vision for once. When used, I saw that the ability was great at highliting fires and corpses, I happened to catch one enemy in the vision and see that he wasn't glowing (maybe it was a module that he had, I am not sure). I saw another enemy with Nano-Vision and he glowed. Around the end of that game, I happened to catch a cloaked enemy in the Nano-Vision, but he looked less visible than a cloaked enemy would without the vision.\

So far, I would say that it is not very useful in Multi-Player, but I can still do a bit of tinkering with it.
