Should Crytek remove all cheaters from the Leaderboards?

Hey,

This is a topic that was raised in the PC forum and that I found interesting.

If you're wondering why I was in the PC forum when I have a copy of C2 on the Xbox then my answer is thus; barely anyone speaks on the Xbox forum anymore so I needed to get my gamesas fix from someone right? haha......... I mght even pretend to have a PS3 and regulary speak on their forum... no probably not.

It kinda annoys me that I am a legit 4th prestige level 29 player and yet I am only level 213th or something in the world. There is no way that over 200 people have played this game more than me. I have looked through their names and I can count on both my hands the players I have actually seen online. Trust me I have seen the same players plently of timeS whom are low levels so I know I would see 2nd + prestige players all the time.

Aside from the common argument FIX THIS WHEN EVERYTHING ELSE IS FIXED, do you think they should be removed?

I know in reality it won't be changed regardless of how we feel, but lets all imagine an alternative universe in which Crytek gave a s**t about their fanbase and customers and all bugs/issues were fixed.

This topic has already been raised in the 360 forums and voted on.

I think it is safe to say that we would all like hackers to be dealt with not just in C2 but all games, why should they be allowed to manipulate game code in order to gain XP without earning it.

So what would be involved in rectifying this, how would Crytek go about finding out who is legit and who cheats. How would they remove them from the leader boards without removing everyone?

Assuming that the leader board is just a database on some server someplace, would this data base record just XP earned and add it up. Would it also record time played versus XP earned versus actual kills.

Would it also record the entire match, i.e. all the players’ stats, and then compare them to find the odd stats out, lets face it if the average kills per match is 20 and one player has 9999 kills consistently in every game, would this show up on the stats server.

I think to remove them from the leader boards would be more difficult then you think, personally I don’t care about stats, I only worry about getting my next unlock, max’in out my modules. Lets face it we all know what’s happening and do we really care who is at the top….

Buddha, just enjoy the game for what it is, just a game. Crytek will do the best they can; they will fix what they can when they can. Given time they will to the best of their abilities sort out the bugs and glitches it’ll just take time.

Even then not everyone will be happy, we all have our own ideas as to how the game should play and feel, which is easy for us to say since we are all back seat drivers with opinions, but the reality of it is it takes time and patience to design and build a game. That’s hours upon hours of staring at a computer screens changing code, compiling it and then debugging it in the hope that it does not have a knock on effect with some other part of the game code. Testing it, retesting it. And not just on one platform.

I hope you purchase Brink and keep Crysis, I think brink will be a nice change of pace, something new. Crysis is a game, which could be dropped for a few months and then come back too. It would be like learning all over again.
