Crysis 2 is not as laggy as you thought!

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 12:46 pm

If you thought that Crysis 2 is laggy, which I personally find it only bad on occasion, then see this review on Brink by a very popular youtuber Wings of Redemption.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFumqVtqz6U&feature=feedu

I think I will be sticking with Crysis 2 thanks. Not trading in this badboy for a long time. Put things in perspective. C2 is a fantastic games and miles above the quality of most games. I know I sound like a Fanboy but I do love the game and as most of you know I am always on Cryteks case so cut me a break.

Not gonna wait on another game to get patched before it's in working order. So Brink = NO NO.

Thoughts?

Apparently everyone has Second Chance and because the mini-map doesn't display where enemies are fully it's like everyone has Ghost.

Another fail.

Thats funny dude. I just posted about the very same vid lol.

TBH honest Crysis looks & runs 100 times smoother than Brink. Was Crysis as bad as Brink at launch?

I bet Crytek are pissing themselves laughing & I don't blame them lol.

In my book, Crysis is better than Brink in almost every single way. I'm gonna give Crytek a break.... well for a few days at least lol

Well then that makes me feel happy on choosing the better game. Between Crysis 2, Homefront(the multiplayer is damn fun), and BC2(ahhh my first love when it comes to FPSs). I think I am good for the summer.

Yeah C2 and BFBC2... with the new Fallout DLC's, LA Noire and other big titles then my life as a hermit will be complete this summer especially since I've just cancelled my holiday to Ayia Napa.

Yeah Brink is using P2P for consoles, does not have superior graphics like C2 or even that kinda of action, look at all reviews, they significantly lower than C2 - 50+ 90% reviews oh yeah Crysis 2 is awesome, I expect Crytek to make better game in future from the mistakes

I bought Brink. My first set of games was flawless as far as connection is concerned... Every other game I've attempted to play in has been like the first video you posted.

I also attempted to play the campaign solo briefly, but the downside to that is your teammate AI is AWFUL compared to the enemy AI. They hardly complete the objectives if you are attempting to cover them, and if you try to do the objective, they don't cover you for ****... They just die and leave you to defend yourself vs 3-7 opponents.

It's still too early to tell, I don't mind the game play though it does feel a bit clunky, but I think I'll be returning or trading asap.

Forgot to add, there's like 7-8 missions for each side... The story is quite dry. All you get to understand is that you either need to stop the rebels or fight the security...

Thanks for the heads up Stab, possibly frequent their forums within the next week and if they don't patch it or talk to you like Crytek likes to do then like you said then return it. Too many other games to want to be out of pocket.

I heard theres no FFA or TDM. I know it's a team based game but I would see no harm in giving players more choice.....

As someone who's put in a few days of crysis and about 6 hours of Brink, I don't see why both can't exist. Brink did a lot of things right. Cartoony graphics appeal to some, but the gameplay is stellar. Controls are lacking, but the teamwork aspect is amazing. Crysis 2 is to me a more enjoyable experience, but to compare the two is just out of the question, they are far to different. IMO Brink is a polished up TF2.

Yeah the "Freeplay" as they call it are just basically the campaign missions as I understand. I haven't tried them out yet. Been trying the actual campaign...

There's no accumulation of kills vs deaths or anything like that, so you really don't have much to go off of beside who's done the most in the game... Which at some points is dumb in my opinion, in the case of joining a game late. It happens often, I join a campaign role just to lose because there was 2 minutes left on the objective timer.

Is the game terrible? No, not really. It has it's moments, but they are too few in comparison to Crysis or hell, even Black Ops... It has an interesting twist, but the movement not feeling fluid at all really ruins it for me. That and as stated in the video, hip fire is better than actually aiming. It feels like your sensitivity gets jacked up when you ADS in Brink. Oh, and they state that being a different body type offers different advantages.... Nope, you have a small extra amount of health as a Heavy, but you still get dropped in 2-3 seconds if the person aims anywhere above the crotch.

The customization is cool, but there are far too many guns. Everything is far too easy to unlock. What's the point in a leveling system if you get 75% of the stuff before level 10? I'm level 7 or 8 in Brink, and I probably literally have unlocked 30 guns and 4-5 full outfits and god knows how many other features... The guns are all balanced, but the differences between most of the guns of the same class seem insignificant other than the model itself.

As for the lag, like all P2P games, it really just depends on the host. I've had 2 games that were fine, and 3-4 that were bad. I'm half tempted to just hang on to it for 1 more day just to finish it and get the achievements, but to be honest, I'm really just disgusted with game developers at the moment. I would say that I'll never buy another game that doesn't have a demo again, but Crysis 2 even proved me wrong with that one...

All in all, if Crysis 2 had a community still that was larger than a handful of people, I'd stick it out here. Now that Brink is a dud, dunno what to do.

Hmm, if I return a game in less than 48 hours to GameStop, what are the chances I can get a full refund?

Cool Story Alert

I've been thinking. Because these developers keep taking the piss, releasing broken games i've decided that tomorrow i'm going to buy Brink with the money I got back from Crysis. After reading reviews on Brink you probably think i'm MAD but i'm being very cunning. I'm buying Brink tomorrow & just before my 10 days are up I'll be returning it for yet another full refund. Why? Because I can & it's about time I started getting my moneys worth from some of these cheeky fuks. I've been screwed over so many times i've lost count. The people in our Gamestation are retarded & i'll guarantee I get my money back before even buying it. By the time I take Brink back I would of expected to see an improvement in C2 or a community update at least.

I played brink for two days before I returned it for a full refund. Didn't find a single bug in the game except for of course the lag in the MP. It isn't nearly as bad as the youtube videos would make it seem, it's actually much better than crysis2's connectivity. It is however still terrible and just.... unacceptable in this age of gaming. It was a nice breathe of fresh air to see Splash Damage release an official statement about the lag less than 24 hours after the game's release. Glad there's at least one developer that still knows what customer service is.

The game play is TOO team based for regular online FPS players....I don't like to rely on the **** random FPS players that I encounter, especially on consoles. I can say this though, if I were still 16 and played FPS games with a clan........ I'd wait till the day I died to have brink in working order. It's the best objective team based game that has came out since Quake World Team Fortress like... 14 years ago.

Assuming they fix the lag and you play with lots of friends... Brink is a really good game. Otherwise it's not worth even playing.

I'm prefer team work more than I do lone wolf so that aspect might be cool. I'm doing it more as a FU to developers. I'll try it its FREE lol.

I'm sorry but people are bashing BRINK way too much without giving it a chance...like I stated in another post I picked up Brink last night and had a go...took me a good hour to get used to the concept and the fact that you need to work together as a team. I had a great time last night and couldn't put it down for a few hours straight.

-Yes...there is a major lag issue that will hopefully get ironed out (Brink may have better support than Crysis2 did *crosses fingers*), however Through out my 3 hour session, 60-70% of my games were lag free. when there's no lag it's quite a fun experience.

-Character/weapon customization is amazing

-Being able to buff your teamates on the fly during battles...nice touch.

-Parkouring through out the battlefield...another nice touch (it's like C2's ledge grab/slide but better)

-Story is...meh. I knew what I was getting into and I knew I was looking for an online experience...that's what I got. I'm getting LA:Noire for story :)

Some of the complaints from the dude in the first video are way too picky...When your character is knocked out and waiting on the ground...you have an option to wait for a teamate medic to come and drop a revival for you or you can respawn at main...no TwistedBuddaX, there is no 'second chance'.

Bash it all you guys want...but I'm pleased with it...infact I'm off to play it now. Enjoy that 'GRAIN GLITCH' fellas...I'm not waiting around for them to never fix it.

Oh...and if any of you decide to try BRINK out...give it a good hour before you make your decision...It'll grow on you.

Amazing how you like to bash Brink' yet you've not played it.

However, Crysis 2 not being laggy? Don't make me laugh... Host migration? I forgot we ALL play Call of Duty...

The Reviews are unbelievable, in a bad way of course! I never had such bad lags in C2 ever! Maybe they will patch that, maybe the can′t, but i will not buy that game. It looks too "cartoonish" to me! I stick with C2, it only can be better.

I had Brink on pre-order, but going to wait a while. Wait till some friends finish their exams, and then may look into picking it up again. SD have said their working on a patch for it/released one already (?). Plus they have released a public notice about whats fixed, and whats coming. (I'll post link, if I find it again)

It just launched, lets see how it plays out throughout this month.

You will consistently get good games in brink, the problem being that when you do find a laggy game it is beyond ridiculous. It's like there's no code to smooth out lag at all. Rubberbanding isn't even a strong enough word for it. It's like slingshotting or something. Still much better connectivity than crysis2 though simply because those **** games are few and far between.

Little update on BRINK...

I know this is out of place in the C2 forums...

For anyone here whose playing BRINK or intends on purchasing it, good news there is a work around for the lag and I tried it last night...FULL FREAKING SESSION WITHOUT LAG.

What you have to do is change the match mode from STANDARD 8V8 to COMPETITIVE 5V5...night and day my friends. for some reason switching to this mode eliminates all lag...and you can experience BRINK to the fullest...it is quite a blast once you get the hang of it.

Don't get me wrong guys...I love Crysis2...but I'm taking a break and enjoying BRINK for awhile.
