This is what a Crytek employee is doing right now. Sad!

I thought this was retarded. We have all these problems, and this what a designer of Crysis 2 is doing.

Instead twittering about new map packs, and other Crysis stuff, he posting this crap. If he is looking for a challenge, fix the god damn game.

You forgot to mention he strives to grow a ginger beard of epic proportions.

Now I feel my money has been well spent on Crysis 2.

I know people need to live their lives. I'm beginning to get an eerie feeling in my gut. Cry-Tom has not posted for a very long time, and he is the community manager. If the communication is this quiet and no excitement about their Map Pack coming in a few days, I think they checked out and the party is over.

So apparently Crytek employees are forbidden to have personal time, and do things that don't involve developing Crysis 2. Alright. It's not like they're people or anything.

Who said they shouldn't have a life?

Judging by the lack of communication considering the DLC is here you don't find it annoying that we are more passionate about their game than they are.

It took him a whole 10 seconds to write that but they cant spare 10 seconds to post about THEIR OWN GAME.

Look at the bigger picture.

I think this is a little overly-critical. ill give my reasons"

For one, he is a level designer, not necessary the lead. Probably one of many. Crytek MAY not even have him currently working on a project (or on Crysis 2). Once a game is released, studios often move people around and put less people on a game, since less are needed. They probably have a few level designers for DLC, but he may not be one of them. So, it may be Crytek's decision to not have him working on Crysis 2.

Also, even if he was, he isn't responsible for fixing the entire game, nobody is. He is a level designer and probably does not do much else besides that otherwise he may be stepping on the toes of other people's jobs.

Also, another comment someone said is yes, people are allowed to do other things besides their job. It sounds like this guy has a passion for level design (duh.) So he is continuing that passion in other outlets. Good for him I say. If he isn't working on maps for Crysis 2 (he likely isn't), then it's nice that he's keeping his skills sharp between projects.

At the end of the day, it's the same as if I judged you for a tweet that you played a good round of Crysis. What if you were a student in college? Couldn't I use the argument that you or your parents are paying for you to get an education and not to talk or play Crysis? This sounds kind of silly, but it is the same thing. And don't say that "it's his job", school in this case would be your job too. And remember, he is ONE level designer at Crytek.

Save the guy from the community, LOL. Look, if this guy is tweeting from his company profile, he is wide open for discussion. No one advertises his position on tweeter unless he wants to be known somewhat in the community. If he is not trying to step on other co-worker toes, he should not be posting from this profile. He has a lot of Crysis tweets on this profile as well. We live in an online social society now, and you have to be respectful to the company you work for. I am a business owner, and if my employees are advertising their position on a social forum, I expect them to be respectful to being wide open to reply to customer inquiries. No matter what level of designer he is, he should not be tweeting under this account unless you are ready to be involve with communicating to the public.

I will agree with you that he should be respectful, but so far that's not the discussion at hand, and none of his messages (at least that I see) are something which are disrespectful to customers, or to Crytek/EA.

I also think he has been communicating with the public? Right? So I do not understand what you mean by " unless you are ready to be involve with communicating to the public."

I am also not saying you cannot bring this up for discussion (obviously), I am merely stating that my opinion is one that disagrees with the discussion you have brought up. which, to refresh: "Instead twittering about new map packs, and other Crysis stuff, he posting this crap. If he is looking for a challenge, fix the god damn game."

This is where I disagree, and do not believe there is a correlation between one video game developer at Crytek making a tweet about video games in general, and the accusation that this one man should be held responsible for all of the problems of Crysis 2 and that it is his responsibility to fix all of them them. That is unfair in my opinion and why I think your post was overly-critical. It also means you assume he is not doing his job as as Crytek Level Designer because he has posted about video games in general, or that because of this post he is not taking customer queries. Which I believe to be untrue, but regardless of what I believe, they are still assumptions

That twitter profile is not an official portal for the community, it's my personal profile that I very occasionally update, with my thought process being that the people who follow it are probably modders from the community. I thought that me posting about mapping for other games might get some response from other designers from the community also interested in similar projects. I didn't realise that people were looking to this as a source for new information on our support for Crysis 2, so I apologise if you think that that's what I should be posting.

Regarding the actual subject; I'm now working on other projects, so unfortunately I wouldn't be able to (nor be allowed to give out) any new information on Crysis 2. The guys here who are working on future updates and bugfixing do read the forums though, so rest assured that your complaints aren't going unheard.
