Adressing your concerns about the DLC and other issues

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 12:35 pm

I was perty much dead set on buying the DLC when the official trailer was released but i have a few concerns.

1. Its hard enough now to get a full game going on MP. When i bought this game on release date every game was full, now im lucky to get a full game, but usually only 6 players per game average now. The community is slowly walking away.

2. How many others are gonna buy this DLC and are the map gonna be worth paying for if hardly anyone has them?

3. I read rumors that a patch fixing alot of issues would be released near the same time as the DLC this week, Is this true?

4. Is there gonna be any weapons added or upgrades to weapons/armor/achievements etc? There really should be if not. This is a totally sweet game when it plays right and it should evolve and get better by adding things like this as well.

5. Are there gonna be some new game styles in MP soon? Is crytek interested in making this game and its evolution as great as it can be? There is so much that can be done with this game, it is just so bare bones right now. If it can have even half the stuff some of the better online MP games have, crysis2 will be a force in the community of gamers.

6. My honest opinion is that crysis 2 is a gold mine of opportunity and the people that know this are begging for fixes and something more. Does crytek and EA know what they even have here? Do they care enough to grow? IS there any official statements from the company saying what some of the plans are for the game and community for the future? If not sell them franchise to someone who will make this game as good of if not better a experience online as the halo and COD franchises.

I have been about as patient as anyone on here, and constantly have a positive attitude and outlook here in the forum and the crysis 2 community. I know what i have is a gold mine of a game sitting on my shelf most the time that when working has given me one of the best game play MP experiences ever with just its bare bones release package.

Its really sad to watch the community slowly walk away from this game, selling it, trading it, or like me shelving it with a glimmer of hope. I sincerely hope crytek knows what is happening and what they truly have on their hands, and can sense the urgency of getting these issues fixed asap before its to late, and addressing the concerns of its die hard community base. The gaming industry is cut throat and someone out there will come out with a game and address its community and evolve, leaving crytek behind smoldering in the ashes of the one of the greatest missed opportunity flops ever, next to doom. Lucky for crytek, BRINK wasnt that great, but who knows when the next one will come out that is great.

As a fan, paying customer, and someone sincerely concerned about the welfare of this game i love so much, i am desperately pleading to crytek to please address the issues ASAP and make this kick ass game great, before im left playing the same very few die hard fans when i decide out of memories sake to pop in the game and play a few rounds.

I was perty much dead set on buying the DLC when the official trailer was released but i have a few concerns.

I was looing forward to and will benefit from it but i'm not buying it on principle.

1. Its hard enough now to get a full game going on MP. When i bought this game on release date every game was full, now im lucky to get a full game, but usually only 6 players per game average now. The community is slowly walking away.

I honestly dont have a problem finding a game. TIA. IA, CS is instant for me. CTR a little slower sometimes then Assualt & Extraction are little slower, but nothing for me to complain about. TIA, IA & CS are always full when i'm on

2. How many others are gonna buy this DLC and are the map gonna be worth paying for if hardly anyone has them?

Like I said I dont have an issue finding games, but the amount of people i've heard say their not getting the DLC puts me off. So I wont buy it.

3. I read rumors that a patch fixing alot of issues would be released near the same time as the DLC this week, Is this true?

The forum managers have been on here recently & they did inform us that they are listening & that bugs are being worked on, but they did say that the patch wont be here for the DLC & no word on whats being fixed & when we are getting it. Wich is why peole are being cynical, me included.

4. Is there gonna be any weapons added or upgrades to weapons/armor/achievements etc? There really should be if not. This is a totally sweet game when it plays right and it should evolve and get better by adding things like this as well.

Agreed!

Like what exactly? What do you mean by bare bones? Have you seen how many modes you can play on Crysis 2. Just as many as COD & more than BFBC2, MOH. What else do you want haha.

6. My honest opinion is that crysis 2 is a gold mine of opportunity and the people that know this are begging for fixes and something more. Does crytek and EA know what they even have here? Do they care enough to grow? If you mean better online experience as "lag free" for everyone I completly agree.
If you mean that a lag free game of Crysis is not a better experience than a lag free game on COD then I have to disagree.
If someone if having lag problems then fair enough, but I dont have have lag problems on any of my FPS games (except Brink & FP) & if i'm honest COD MP would be 3rd to last on the list as my worse FPS games, Flash Point being the worse then Brink. With the exception of MW. IMO Crysis is already better than COD for gameplay. TBH I dont think most COD players would like Crysis anyway. Its a bit hard & takes practice. Sorry, but true.

Im one of the few i guess that doesnt experience any lag problems, just graphical bugs and sometimes complete breakdown of the game. I have a home fix when this happens that seems to solve the problem until the next mess up for some weird reason. I will hook my 360 hard drive up to my PC, open my gamesave using xport 360, make a copy of the save to my desktop. Then i will open this game save in modio and simply rehash and resign and put back on my 360 hard drive. Then i start playing again and everything is fine. This will work for a bit till it messes up again. Another weird thing is every time i download a game, DLC, or anything from marketplace really, then play crysis 2 the graphical errors will be there until i do my home fix again.

By bare bones i mean what came with the game when i purchased it. I am at level 48 and have almost all achievements and unlocks finished. A addon similiar to the addons that youll find in the fallout series will fix this issue and add many more weapons/objectives/achievements etc.

I will have to try some of the game modes you use and see if i can get a full game going, here lately seems like i get stuck with at most just 6 players anymore, thanks for tip!

As for COD black ops, i dont think the gameplay versus crysis 2 is better, crysis 2 greatly exceeds the fun factor and intense non stop combat i really enjoy. COD black ops is more of a be cautious constantly look over you shoulder or get killed kind of game, which has its appeal, but the appeal factors of crysis 2 out weighs that aspect as well, especially with the nano suit. What i mean is it seems like there is such a endless multitude of things to do and achieve on COD black ops. I love being able to play a game with a sense of being able to achieve objectives, complete tasks, earn special badges and/or weapons, look forward to and continue on to the next achievement or set of goals.

An example that i would like to see is a horde mode where you fight endless waves of ever stronger and faster aliens and those huge bots we faced in campaign mode in single or co-op mode online to unlock special addons, weapons and badges. If this came in a DLC, just this only, i would buy it on release day lol.

Basically this is what i mean by more gameplay modes and evolving. There is just so much that can be done with this game. In fact if i had a good copy of CryEngine?2 Sandbox 2 or the cryengine 3 tools i would work on some things like new multi player maps, weapons, AI characters, and whatever the tools can do to help. If i had the schooling degree i would work for em, but i havent done any work like this in a good while, since the release of the unreal engine 3 development tools. I dont think i have ever been as passionate about a game since zelda as i am about crysis, so all i want to see for me as a gamer, the crysis gaming community and crytek as a developer, is for this franchise to be the next huge gaming experience i know it can become and hopefully will become.

I agree this game is a potential gold mine and could of killed many other franchises, considering how many played it upon release until the bugs became so evident that it became more infuriating than enjoyable.

And each day that goes by without a fix, it is just going to be harder and harder to recover the community. Something I think a free DLC would of helped immensely.

I desperately want the new maps, but I just can't buy them, if all I can do is view them in a private match by myself.

Crysis 2 is one of the best looking and fun games I've ever played, but it has to also be the most broken also. $15 might not seem like much, especially when Mum or Dad are buying it, and many of those screaming "CRYSIS 2 IS AWESUMZ SO STFU" are kids.

But for me I'm a parent I pay for my own games and can't play just anything given to me, I have a better concentration than a 12 year old and expect to get what I paid for. It's almost 1/4 of the cost of the game some people paid for the DLC, and if I knew I could guaranteed, find a match where I wasn't red barred or locals were playing I might take the risk, but for now, it's just not worth it.
