Lets Be Real: 3D gaming.

Eyecandy, everyone loves it. In this generation of gaming, eyecandy is no exception. However, can 3D gaming be hurting gaming in general. Lets compare a few non-3D titles to their now 3D Predecessors.

Killzone 2- An all around amazing FPS, required skills and time to get used to. One of the greats this gen for sure.

Killzone 3: Its the new installment in the KZ series, but it has been, in my opinion, a let down. The game offers 3D, but many argue that not only did KZ2 have more in game features, it also looked better.

You decide.

Is 3D killing gaming? I believe so. There is only so much these consoles can do. Adding 3D is completely irrelevant and is only used as a gimmick to try and sell more copies of said game.

All 3D games are crap. You defo wouldn't use it in MP & if you did use you'd have my respect as a gamer. To much delay when 3D is enabled. I've not played KZ3 so I couldn't comment, but Crysis looks amazing. None 3D games look good in 3D but the delay spoils it.

Its just a novelty imo.

I think it's something that can explored but 3D would be better in a world where people aren't money-hungry idiots. I believe with a gorgeous game like Crysis 2 I'd LOVE to play it in 3D.

I wonder if 3D requires a lot from a console to be made possible. How good would Hd games look without added 3d now that the devs have gotten used to these consoles by now. 3d is definitely not needed

I don't think it's 3D killing gaming, as you say you'd only use it for offline play if you have common sense, what I think is killing gaming is rushed untested games. Companies putting visuals over substance. It is sad when I can pick up an old Game like Quake 2 or Unreal Tournament and still have more fun with those than most modern games, they look like crap now (well UT looks good still in some ways) but they still play as they were designed to. Heck if I wanted to I could have a 64 player game of Quake 2 compared to this crappy 16 player experience 9 times out of 10 we get stuck with, mostly because "it has to look pretty".

I think when developers get back to the core of gaming, "FUN" "ORIGINALITY" and "SOLID MECHANICS" things will get better, because I think people are getting sick of every new game being just like everything else they already own in a different skin.

It's why I like HALO so much, no Iron Sighting, no ridiculous tactics that fail because you can't look over your shoulder, just basic fun gameplay and it works. Until they get a succesful VR helmet on the market much of what these games are trying is a fail.

So for me 3D isn;t the issue, if anything it's a step in the right direction, the fail is developers too eager for money, not loyal to fans, and who don't listen to the people paying them either.

(I also blame kids to eager to spend their parents money for crap)
