I've only been able to play a few matches here and there but I've noticed better hit detection and a lot less lag. Maybe it's just me but give it a try and see what you guys think.

Probably has an improved framerate because there are no orbital strikes, ceth gunships and nano-suit abilities (armor and cloak). A lot less for the game to render. Would make a lot of sense.

That's very true. I like the way it plays in classic mode.
