@everyone having problems with autoexec.cfg/tweaked options

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 1:34 pm

So, most of you know you can tweak Crysis 2 further with making a file called autoexec.cfg (most people use a tool to do this, namely this one , thanks wasdie!)

However, come patch 1.8, the commands no longer seem to be working... But do they actually still work? Ye they do!

It seems that when you add 2 spaces, before and after the =, the command will get recognized again.

Here's my own autoexec.cfg file:

Code:
sys_spec_shading = 3
sys_spec_gameeffects = 3
sys_spec_objectdetail = 3
sys_spec_particles = 3
sys_spec_physics = 3
sys_spec_postprocessing = 3
sys_spec_shadows = 3
sys_spec_sound = 3
sys_spec_texture = 3
sys_spec_water = 3
g_skipIntro = 1
cl_fov = 80
pl_movement.power_sprint_targetFov = 80
i_mouse_accel = 0
i_mouse_accel_max = 100
i_mouse_smooth = 0
r_motionblur = 2
g_radialBlur = 1
cl_zoomToggle = 1
r_UseEdgeAA = 3
r_TexMaxAnisotropy = 16
r_PostMSAA = 2
cl_crouchtoggle = 1
r_ColorGrading = 1
r_SSAO = 4
r_VSync = 0
e_shadows = 1
g_enableInitialLoginScreen = 0
r_HDRBloomMul = 1
r_HDRBrightLevel = 1
r_MultiGPU = 0
g_useHitSoundFeedback = 1
sys_MaxFps = 60
r_DrawNearFoV = 80

Just make a new file, call it autoexec.cfg and place it in your Electronig Arts -> Crytek -> Crysis 2 folder (the main Crysis 2 folder)

Notes:
- It's not illegal or anything to do this, but if something happens to your account I cannot be held responsible.
- change r_MultiGPU = 0 to 1 if you have more than 1 graphics card
- tweak the settings yourself to your liking
- cl_fov, pl_movement.power_sprint_targetFov and r_DrawNearFoV are capped at 80 degrees to avoid abuse of the function
- if you want even more control over your config, you can use this website to make your own autoexec.cfg file online and have 184 cvars to tweak: here (Credits to KillerSneak!)
- Oneirohero told me you don't have to use a =, but that you can just use commands like "cl_fov 80". Haven't tested it myself, and not sure if I should even point it out, but here you go.

Cheers man, this works for me.

When I installed the patch it ignored all the CVAR commands. I then tried adding them to the game.cfg file which works but this file seems to be reset every time you exit the game now.

Of course it would be easy to add a batch file to re-add all these lines every time you start the game. A word from Crytek about whether they consider this cheating would be welcomed.

Cry-Adam is using an autoexec.cfg file himself, so I think you can be pretty sure it's not considered cheating :P (source)

It seems the superclear Nanovision is the one they are trying to prevent. I think nanovision should be blurry and noisy to prevent overuse. I can understand that they want a level playing field as far as poss but if it's so easy to circumvent then you know most people are going to be using it.

They need to properly lock it down. :D

Hmm ...the 'super-clear' NanoVision, never have i heard of such a thing in my life ...

r_NightVisionBrightLevel = 0
r_NightVisionCamMovNoiseAmount = 0
r_NightVisionCamMovNoiseBlendSpeed = 0

Like if i put this in my game .cfg, like if i want to avoid sore eyes?
Hmm whatever can this man be talking about?

:D

are you sure you put it in the right folder? also be sure to edit the file extension and not just name it autoexec.cfg.txt (you can enable the extensions in folderoptions somewhere)
