Sometimes during an explosion, or while getting shot at, my screen turns completely black, and I can only see the HUD. It started happening right after I installed 1.8. Other times it happens during the killcam. Really Crytek? With every patch you break something or don't fix important issues such as: the orbital strike lag , not leveling properly and getting unlocks... the bugs go on and on. Even the sound loop bug in the main menu that was present in the demo didn't get fixed until a few months later. You guys need to get more training.

I had this - I think it's caused by disabling motion blur - setting r_motionblur = 1 seems to work.

I could be wrong as I re-instated my CVARs and there are lots of settings in there, one of them solved the issue.

I got the black screen effect after disabling motion blur in SP, it doesn't happen in MP though, we still have that strange sights glitch but that's fine.

Before you blame Crytek, check your graphics drivers and settings. You guys always seem to assume it's the patch.

There was nothing like that before patch , drivers are up to date and the only thing that tends to fix this is setting motion blur to 1 which most of us do not like due to the blurry look of the game ...

MotionBlur to 1 fix the black screen... but its annoying.

The black screen happens in MP too, i'm using new nvidia driver.

Yup, maybe it's the new driver, i might try the older beta one i was using before.

This happened to me before this patch too, but never with the motion blur enabled. It seems like it must have something to do with disabling the motion blur.

For everyone having extreme issues like this, I would remove your autoexec and reinstall game from scratch. I have used a tooled autoexec a long while ago, but removed a few weeks after. Seemed some variables stayed changed in the main files even tho I was't using an autoexec anymore. I've since reinstalled game and noticed right away that the game looked better and ran better than before. Just make sure you copy your saved game folder before you uninstall. Once you have reinstalled, run game WITHOUT an autoexec and see if your having issues still. hope that helps
