NEW BUG? UNPLAYABLE- CRYSIS2 CRASHES EVERYTIME I ATTEMPT...

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 12:16 pm

Every time, for the past 24 hour or so, after the Mission Initialization Screen when I press A to continue my single-player game, I get a blank screen which appears to be a crash because the XBOX menu button won't work, and I have to turn the console off and on again using the front power button.

Have you tried restarting the mission instead of reloading it from checkpoint? You'll be back to the default guns, but it may fix it.

How do you do that? I do see anything but the resume game option.

The menu has a level select option, use that.

I think I might have to try and start from the beginning. Unfortunately, there is only a single save file.

I still do not see any way to choose a particular level or mission. Maybe you have that option on PC. I have the XBOX 360 version.

I'm talking about the 360, once you have started a level, there is a map selection option made available for that level.

I think it should be under "Campaign" but as you have "start new" I'd say your "save" is stuffed.

Restart looks like it might be needed

I do not see any sub menus associated with the resume game. It just attempts to launch game from my save point, but is unable to complete it.

I'm spoiled from playing so many great BIOWARE games like the MASS EFFECT trilogy and DRAGON AGE Origins where you can have 6 or 7 simultaneous play throughs saved. They also utilize a CASCADE of saves like 15 to 20 per play through, so that you have the freedom to go "back in time" easily.

Good call. Save yourself the trouble of doing it later.

What level/mission are you on? If you are still only on the first mission than maybe the mission select option isn't available to you yet. I had something like this happen to me on the second mission and I was able to restart the same mission from the beginning and without any more freezes. Hope you figure it out.

I was about half-way through the game. I did end up returning it to Game Stop earlier this afternoon. Thanks for everyone's feedback.

Good for you bruv,

Stop these amateurs at Crytek getting their grubby hands on more profits. Hopefully the people will hear about their pathetic customer relations and buy the game pre-owned just to p*ss them off.

Great stuff.

Did you even try to restart the mission? You didn't post that you went into Campaign and selected Replay Mission.

When I chose Campaign, it just gave me a warning screen that if I continued, all saved data would be erased as it would start a brand new game. There were no choices other than to continue with the process of beginning a new campaign or to cancel and retain the saved game; but then when I would try to resume my single-player game, it would go to a blank screen after the loading screens, and the whole system was frozen--not even being able to open the x-box menu via the button on the controller. I tried to get it to work probably ten times over the course of two days now, and every time it happened exactly as I just described here.

Would of kept it, as for all my complaints the campaign is pretty good, if you refuse to download the patches that make the AI dumber despite the bugs. And well if they fix the MP bugs, it'll be the best effin game on LIVE.
Hope you rebuy when/if they fix it.

Did ya check the disc? Coulda been scratched. Otherwise I'd say corrupted save file, haven't heard of anyone else having that issue so far though.
