Give us the lowdown

Post » Thu Aug 20, 2009 2:33 am

We all know that there is a patch in the works. We also know that once again Microsoft's Xbox 360 (Of DEATH) is getting exclusive DLC - could this be interfering with our patch? I wondering if that is the case. Unlike most forums we are left in the dark with no status on anything.

Bethesda/Obsidian could take lessons from DICE or even Zipper Interactive. At least their moderators give constant feedback on important things. We have the right to know about anything that has to do with Fallout: New Vegas. It's obvious the console versions of New Vegas should have been delayed as it reminds me of when World of Warcraft launched. It was a bug infested Motel with no cleaning lady. At least New Vegas has a cleaning lady... a terrible one.

Was it released in this form simply out of fear of Black Ops coming out so soon? or did they honestly feel it was ready. No game is ever perfect and which is why we have updates/patches and so on. But we can't keep being left in the dark with nothing to go on. We need an ETA, a status report... anything.

Bashing this great game won't get us anywhere. But with no Intel from their side is just as bad. Keep this post up top and MAYBE we will finally get the lowdown on anything to do with our patch. My guess is perhaps later today since Tuesday is when Sony likes to have anything updated. If not this topic could be vital to us in some way.

Interact with us... Has SCEA approve of this yet? is it close to being done? have you even started?!

I was also pretty irritated at the lack of response from Beth at first, but then I found this over in their blog: http://bethblog.com/index.php/2010/10/22/an-update-on-updates/ which they posted Friday. I sort of took a step back and thought about it and since the game was released last Tuesday and the patch information came out in their blog on Friday ... it really hasn't been that long. Anyway, the latest update there confirms that a PS3 patch went live in Europe (though it doesn't say when) so hopefully maybe we'll get it today or sometime this week.

Don't get me wrong. I'm definitely in agreement with many who say that Beth should have done a little better Q/A testing and Sony should have, too. Still, they are posting information ... it's just not here in the forums. Annoying, I know. It also doesn't help that it is just so bloody frustrating to have to wait and that makes time seem to crawl by slowly.

Your right and it may seem too early but then again this game should have not been released in it's current state. As far as I know the patch that was released in EU/UK was a flop. Could our wait be due from them fixing their own patch? simple responses such as "We are still working on it. Should be out soon" or "Almost done and waiting for the green light on SCEA" would be a great help.

I still love this bloody game and it boggles my mind as to why. Now that I reached 8 hours in the game is on a freezing binge. But yet in some way still enjoyable. I checked their Twitter, facebook and Blog. I'll check on those regularly for anything. Perhaps I'm being too impatient, still, game should not have been launched like this. But alas, it did and now we must wait.

(Just because for some strange reason myself and others like or love New Vegas, haha... don't get the wrong idea... we really, truly... need a fix. A speedball would do fine)

I know what you mean. I have http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i181/rainmagick/DSCF2978.jpg in on this game already and the freezing just drove me nuts. I had to just put the game away. Still, it really is fun when I managed to actually get some solid game play in between lock-ups. This last one, though, when I go took that pic, I notices a serious lag during the start up and so I'm officially done with NV until Beth has a patch out. Too many forced reboots can't be any good for the PS3's HDD and I would freak if I had to reformat.

Yeah, I went to their Facebook pages and they are getting slammed like mad. I think one of the big reasons everyone is so hostile is because NV uses the same engine as FO3 and so many of the same problems are popping up. And the freezing issue ... man, for me, that is just the game killer.

Having a game freeze your PS3 is never a good thing. I stopped playing after it did it three times within an hour. Constantly having to shut off the PS3 this way can never be good, either. If it takes longer then I'd expect there are always other alternatives I can enjoy playing. Finish Final Fantasy XIII, beat Assassin's Creed II or get back on my addiction to Demon's Souls. I'd throw Medal of Honor in there but everyone on my list who has MoH is too busy with New Vegas.

There is also Lights Out... heh, patience is key and we have the games to keep us occupied until we get any further information on our patch.
