Does having a silencer on your gun decrease the range or damage?

It seemed to for me so I stopped using it after a couple of games.
I'm not too bothered about appearing on the radar as I keep moving so I'm not where the red dot showed up for long...the enemy get the 'your teammate died here' icon anyway which attracts attention to the area.

As far as I am aware, all weapon add-ons reduce a weapons mobility which makes it take longer to ADS and slows the movement in ADS mode.

After reading this post I decided to try the scarab with no silencer. It increased mobility some and definetly gave the gun a little more punch, and I didn't die anymore or anyless without the silencer attached.

A quick search on teh internetz suggests a drop off in weapon damage over range http://crysis.wikia.com/wiki/Silencer

This is quite normal for a silencer in an FPS.

At short range its hard to tell any difference but when I am killing dudes halfway across the map for the first time with little effort with a scarab, I doubt its my imagination.
