So as some as you know by now, I've complained about SE III being overpowered and I still think it is. Cloak is abused IMO. I hope one day Crytek will do something about it and reduce the crutch many players need to play well or in some cases compete at higher level gameplay (I will speak on this later).
Now. Since it's double xp weekend I've been wanting to complete as many modules as possible to max out the xp, this obviously includes stealth modules, but I also want to work towards the 100% collection dog tag as I'm 5th reboot. Not that the dog tag means much since every Tom, dike and Harry have either glitched it or cheated in some way to obtain it but I want it so I know. I've NEVER used any stealth modules outside SE since my 1st reboot then I only dabbled for a little.
So obviously I needed to put Stealth Enhance III on the back burner. Let me tell you, it got some getting used to, and at first my initial setup was this.
Energy Transfer II
Covert Ops I
Mobility Enhance I
Reminder - The Elite Class is;
Energy Transfer III
Stealth Enhance III
Retriever III* (Weapon Pro III is also viable but not as good.)
So I needed to rank these up and I've played about 30 or so games today, mostly IA, and now got them to rank III. My mindset at the time was that I needed Mobility Enhance to compensate for the lack of SE III and so I choose to rank this power module up first.
At first, it was quite hard adjusting to this new class as I needed to charge more and I had to time shooting out of cloak better because I got used to the fast transition that SE has. However it is surprising how your gameplay changes when your gameplay isn't just ""let's sprint round with infinite cloak and energy and shoot anything that moves" I've enjoyed this game a lot with the new build and now have moved onto the following...
Energy Transfer III
Tracker
Ammo Pack
I know strange setup right? I have found the Mobility Enhance is not really necessary either. Not using the ELITE setup really pushes you as a gamer and tests you're abilities. It's a personal challenge. I'm learning to hold down certain areas more, be more cautious, take care in who and/or when I engage, I now think before I act, focus on using armor more and I am having a lot more 1-on-1's which is a lot more exciting than playing as an ELITE and popping in and out the kill someone then going back to cloak. I feel like I'm competing in the games, not slaughtering.
I have been able to maintain a 3.56-3.59 KD. My KD has not changed since going from an Elite class to these normal classes. I know I'm still using Energy Transfer but it is essential IMO until I least get Nano Recharge as I don't get any energy to do anything without (run, jump, cloak or armor up) and it becomes a chore. This all goes to show that if you're a good gamer you don't need the best of the best weapons and modules to do well. I won almost everygame except 5, I quit 2 of them because I was 1 bar and I joined mid-game in the other 2 the last one I was out-played, kudos to my competitor.
Let me note though that this class is very good versus bad and very good players, these make up about 98% of players, but from time to time (1 in 12 games) you will come across someone exceptional. In that case I usually, switch to my ELITE class mid-game. The thing is if were equally skilled then my opponent will likely win by virtue of this setup.. he can travel A LOT faster than I can with little to no thought due to his unlimited energy AND all the benefits that cloak brings and Retriever of course. However, I don't mind this. I don't mind having to switch to my best class against exceptional players, however before I was using this class against bad to very good players and it svcked using the same thing over and over again.
Finally, I would like to say that the imbalances of the ELITE class are much more apparent after you have used something different. When I switch to my Elite I feel like I've activated Super Saiyain! It's so easy, so convenient... to use a car anology it's like driving your car on cruise mode or on automatic.. while a non-ELITE class is like driving the car itself i.e. manual mode. Although it stroked my ego to dominate noobs with my Elite class it felt unrewarding, most players are not even high enough level to have these modules and compete anyway.
I encourage you to try something new and you will be surprised how fun it is to actually earn your wins rather than having them handed to you because you have OP class. I know you still need skill with the Elite class but it does A LOT of the work for you.. being the underdog and then winning vs. others OP setups is much more satisfying (in my opinion).
Kazakage.
