Worst Graphics Glitch I've Found

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 2:19 pm

Ok,

Over the past few days I've been having this graphical glitch.

What happens is that different parts of the environment will change into different colours (red, white, blue, yellow etc) and each colour has is made up of a small squares. I wont happen to the entire screen, only portions of it intermittently. I can look at it and it will be there and when I look away and look at it again it disappears. It also does the same to my weapon camo and the smoke trail when throwing a grenade.

It also effects the sound. In the game lobby the music will play fine, but once in a game the sound will also mute and the only thing I can hear is party chat and enemies gunfire. I cannot hear announcements, when I reload, footsteps, ceth gunship, explosions, my own gunfire... nothing at all except the aforementioned.

It's becoming more frequent and I think it also effects hit detections also as I have found that I will be putting rounds and rounds into people while this is occuring and barely kill them when usually this doesn't happen without the glitch.

This is really annoying because on top of everything else this literally makes the game unplayable. If I cannot hear anything and the screen keeps getting messed up then I can't play it deaf and partially blind.

If it's a consistant glitch/bug, then I would be worried about your xbox.

I will put a picture of this tomorrow.

I pray it is not my Xbox, it's the 250gb slim version and I've had it less than a year. I haven't played any other games so I don't know if it affects other games but I will test it out tomorrow. I'm p*ssed with Crysis at the minute because of all the other issues on top of this so I don't want to play it anymore, plus I'm 5th reboot so finding it difficult to find a reason to play it.

It never really fixes anything, but have you tried clearing your XBox cache? It's worth a try.

That sounds like a system fault, most likely a dying or defective graphics chip. I would defo try out a few other graphically intense games on it to check. I know its a new xbox but with the change in hardware parts inside the chances of faults actually goes up, due to the hardware not being manufactured to the same level. Its the same in any bit of electronics hardware, new parts always need time to iron out design and manufacturing flaws.
