Dedicated Server not showing up in browser -- help!

Post » Thu Aug 20, 2009 10:02 am

Our dedicated server from our GSP doesn't show up in the browser even though fully configured properly to do so. The provider is reporting that he thinks the issue is still with the +net_ip binding. Our machine has multiple IP's and of course our server IP is not the machines primary IP address. Is it true that indeed there is an issue with the browser not being able to see non primary dedicated machine IP's. We have tried everything but our server just will not show in the list even though it's been up and broadcasting and we can connect to it via the Direct Connect in Freeplay.

Our server.cfg file holds this command for our server and we have the name of the server in the quotes.

si_name ""

thanks for reading and providing any info that could help us get listed.

almost 40 views ...no replies -- no solutions, nothing we do with our dedicated server gets it to show up in the list. I'm a very sad Panda. Our GSP is stumped and it would appear so is everyone else. Are dev's aware of the non primary IP problem with dedicated servers which causes it not to be listed in the game browser? Is that a fix coming soon. Not all servers can have primary IP accounts mates.

So good news/bad news now --- our server PartyPiratesGaming.com finally shows up in the browser list -- that's the good news. The bad news is clicking on it does nothing and returns a timed out message. I can direct connect to it via the IP but not from the browser list, my history list or my favorites list where the server shows listed.

It must still be something to do with the fact that the IP is not the primary, you have been able to get them to populate but we can't connect from the browser even though we are listed now.

Wish I could help. I've got no experience in setting up a dedicated server for Brink. Probably the same reason for all the other views with no replies. Have you tried contacting Splash Damage about it?

our GSP set up the sever -- I guess Splash Damage is next stop. I was hoping they were reading the Brink game forums to see what we are reporting.

There are a few problems still with the +set net_ip x.x.x.x command and it appears that they are working on the fix for multihome servers. What we have done is taken out the net_ip command from the command line completely and it seems to show up in the browser list. Hope that helps.

I think Splash Damage is doing a bit better job of keeping an eye on their own forums for Brink.

Thanks guys, the most recent update seems to have fixed the problem -- we are now listed and our server is busy and we can finally connect to it as well. Now to get RCON working.

rcon isnt that hard to set up. in your server.cfg put net_serverRemoteConsolePassword "yourpw"

and when your ingame go to console and type net_serverRemoteConsolePassword yourpw

then you will be able to run rcon commands.

my server however does not seem to work since the latest steam patch, and i patched the server with the latest steam update. did you guys have to make any changes to any of the files or anything?
