Alexander Scalatti-The Hub Water Merchants

Sweat dripped from Alex's face as he sat in his office. The rays of sunlight stung his face as they shot into the room via holes in the wall. It was unbearably hot, which was usual for the Hub and noon. Damn, must be at least 100 today, [censored] the sun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbH2oYqNHRw but Alex could hardly hear it. The miserable heat made sure of that.

The office he was in used to be an old pre-war building, but it was looking more like a tin shack now days due to all the cheap patch jobs done over the years. There were still several pieces of the past left on it, but they were few and far between.

Alex was about to pack up and leave, when suddenly he heard footsteps. The footsteps grew louder and louder, and until someone slammed the door open. It was a fairly attractive female.

"Scalatti!"

"What?" Alex lounged back in his chair.

"Look [censored], this is the third [censored] week in a row that you failed to meet your [censored] quota! The third [censored] week! Do you an explanation?"

"Look, you know just as well as I do, things are rough. Several caravans have gone missing, and I don't want to lose any....."

"I don't give a [censored] about your personal dilemmas, Hightower just wants the [censored] money! I want you to head out by the end of the week to Shady Sands. Do you [censored] hear me!?!?"

"Yes, I hear you."

"Good, now good day!" The lady slammed the door shut.

Alex opened the door into the Maltese Falcon. It was packed, mostly with people drinking cold beers to stave off the heat. As he was walking around he noticed his best friend and walked over to him. He sat down at the booth.

"Alex, whats happening?"

"Not much Fredrick, look, I have to head out by the end of the week to Shady Sands."

"What the hell? Even with them deathclaws killing all the caravans?"

"Yep, say, want to go with me? I heard that your caravan fired you earlier today."

"Yep, Crimson Caravan is one of the biggest losers in this recent attacks. Anyways, sure, I would be glad to head out, can I be hired full time?"

"Lets wait and see before I make any promises."

OOC: If someone would like to meet Alex at the Falcon, you are more than welcome to do so.

Xavier's gnarled hand reached out from the confines of his now slightly large suit and across the bar for his beer, he made a growling noise in the back of his throat as his figers closed around the old bottle.

"There a problem with your beer Xavi?"

Xavier made the same sound again, "You'll never get to experience just how these things taste when they've been brewed properly is all stumpy."

"Hey [censored] you Xavi, I don't call you a rotting sack of flesh like I ought'a."

Xavier laughed, it sounded like a chainsaw carving through wood.

"Cool your heels little friend, the bombs have affected us both; we are equal."

The dwarf barman laughed, "Yeah well I guess some would debate that; keep safe Xavi."

Xavier left the bar with his cool bottle of home brewed beer in hand and turned around to a couple of young punks in raggy suits sitting at his booth.

"Hey smooth-skins, your sittin' in my booth; I always sit here. Givin' that I keep your water clean and you in business the least you can do is not steal my damn seat." Xavier rasped as he crossed the distance between the bar and his booth.

Fredrick turned over and looked at Xavier with disgust, "I must have not gotten the memo. I was not told that I had to give up my seat whenever a zombie asked for one."

"Fredrick, he's is the same as you on the inside..."

"He's a rotten pack of flesh! Look at him, he's a [censored] zombie! And now he wants my seat?!" Fredrick said in disgust again.

"I apologize for my friend's biggoted remarks Xavier. If you don't know me, I am Alexander Scalatti, a head caravan driver for the water merchants. You can eat with us if you'd like."

Fredrick spit out his beer when he heard Alex say that, "So you're going to eat with a [censored] zombie? "

"Fredrick, for the last time, he is a slightly changed human. He has a heart, blood, and everything else."

"Slightly? He's a pack of meat! Rotten meat!"

Xavier made a point to sit next to 'Fredrick'.

"Thanks. Don't apologise for your friend, he can do it himself after I've literally burned his ass off." Xavier look him up and down. "At least my clothes were made-to-measure, well at least they were once over; dumb-ass."

Xavier looked at the other man, the face of whom he recognised. "Yeah I've seen your face about, one of the fancy caravan drivers; because shooting a gun is worth more than a University education, that's a high-level of education in case you aren't familiar. I apologise if I sound rude but designing crude water purification systems for jack-[censored] after a nuclear war isn't really what I had in mind for myself."

Xavier drank his beer. "Tastes like [censored] but I guess it's all you've known smooth-skin; what do I call you anyway?"

ooc: weak post but i wanted David to start talking with others, before you get too far ahead...

David ashwood

David was inside the Maltese falcon, drinking some Nuka cola when two people with suits walked into the bar and started talking about caravans when a ghould walked up two and started Complain about them sitting his booth.

"Hey smooth-skins, your sittin' in my booth; I always sit here. Givin' that I keep your water clean and you in business the least you can do is not steal my damn seat." the ghoul rasped as he crossed the distance between the bar and his booth.

why do ghouls alway go looking for trouble....

one of men turned over and looked at ghoul with disgust, "I must have not gotten the memo. I was not told that I had to give up my seat whenever a zombie asked for one."

hah that showed him...

"Fredrick, he's is the same as you on the inside..."

"He's a rotten pack of flesh! Look at him, he's a [censored] zombie! And now he wants my seat?!" Fredrick said in disgust again.

"I apologize for my friend's biggoted remarks Xavier. If you don't know me, I am Alexander Scalatti, a head caravan driver for the
water merchants. You can eat with us if you'd like."

hmm maybe i get a job from them....
getting up out of his Dvaid walked over the three men in the booth whlist the ghoul looked at the other man, "Yeah I've seen your face about, one of the fancy caravan drivers; because shooting a gun is worth more than a University education, that's a high-level of education in case you aren't familiar. I apologise if I sound rude but designing crude water purification systems for jack-[censored] after a nuclear war isn't really what I had in mind for myself."

"excuse me " David said " I overheared that your a Caravan driver do you have any work?" David asked

" oh the names, David , David ashwood" David said to alex holding his hand out to shake....

Xavier looked at the other man, the face of whom he recognised. I apologise if I sound rude but designing crude water purification systems for jack-[censored] after a nuclear war isn't really what I had in mind for myself."

Alex nodded as Fredrick adjusted himself to sit farther from Xavier. "The war changed everyone's plans, even the world's. Hell, even now, I didn't plan to be a hot shot caravan driver, but it all fell into place. By the way, I do know what a university is from the books I read. I'm fairly well learned for a waste-lander.

Xavier drank his beer. "Tastes like [censored] but I guess it's all you've known smooth-skin; what do I call you anyway?"

"All the pre-war beer is jack-[censored] and warm, and so is the nuka cola, so yeah, this is all I know. You can call me Alexander Scalatti, or Alex if so inclined."

Then, a man walked over to the group.

"Excuse me," he said. " I overheard that your a Caravan driver do you have any work?" He asked.

"I could do wonders with your name son," Alex asked impatiently.

"Oh the names, David , David Ashwood," David said to alex holding his hand out to shake....

Alex reached out and shook David's hand, "My name is Alexander Scalatti. I'm sure that you have heard about the recent caravan attacks. Guards are deserting in droves in fear of their lives. I need a guard. 200 caps for a round trip. You provide the ammo and guns. We leave two times a week."

OOC: I forgot to mention several things.

1. The Vault Dweller himself will be the cannonical white male.

2. The RP started about a week and a half before the events of the game start. The week and a half will be used as a sort of introduction, and will allow unhinged character development.

3. The planned trip to Shady Sands will be the first time the Vault Dweller is seen in the RP.

4. Try to limit contact with the Vault Dweller as much as possible. If needed, anyone can take control, but keep development at a bare minimum.

5. Smaller trivial events that happened in Fallout 1 will not be canonized. Only major events will be headlined.

OOC: does the killing of Deathclaws count as Major event? If not I have an idea for that…

David ashwood

Caravan attacks? What he talking about? Blasted raiders I guess but with 200 caps a week thats totally worth it soon I'm be able to hire some mercs and kill those blasted things....

“Cool thank you, I had to flee from my house a few weeks ago because of these giant-lizard-men things… but don’t worry I still have my trusty double barrel shotgun and plenty of ammo “ David said as sat down next to Alex…

Taking another slip from his Nuka – cola, David asked “So when are heading out? i've never been to shady sands but I hear good things about the town.” David asked …

"and is that ghoul coming with us?, “ I’m no ghoul- hater but ghouls give off a practical bad “smell” that attracts dangerous things…” David said as he looked at ghoul....

Emil had been walking through the desert for days, with very little food and water. The sun had been beating down on him but he was used to it. Sweat rolled down his forehead, smearing bits of his facial chalk. Emil took his water canteen and swallowed the last of the dirty liquid, and pushed his greasy, wet hair out of his eyes. He hadn't seen a living thing for miles except for a few wild dogs, and was slowly losing hope in finding the place he had heard of called The Hub. The weight of his gear was becoming too much to handle as he was becoming quickly dehydrated and weakened by the heat, when a bulge on the horizon came into view.

-----

Emil wandered through the streets of the Hub, gazing at everything. He was completely unfamiliar with technology and stared at things like a child would stare at a gun for the first time. People gave him strange looks, like he was a fish out of water. And he was. He was a raider walking into a settlement and not attacking anyone. He hadn't noticed it, though, and to him, this place was like heaven.

He walked to a building where he could hear people conversing from outside, and decided to enter to see if he could find work by talking to someone. Once inside, he could see that there were drinks and food. Emil instead ignored his hunger and thirst and shifted his eyes to a group of men wearing suits. They seemed like they could make business, and Emil wanted to make an attempt at getting work as he needed the pay. He made his way over to them, and when he got near he could see one of them was a ghoul. He looked at each one of them, and spoke as best as he could to try to make a good first impression.

"Greetings, men. I must question if I could use my skills to assist you in return for compensation?"

"Greetings, men. I must question if I could use my skills to assist you in return for compensation?"

The man was raggedy and looked as if he just crawled out of the desert. He was either a tribal or a raider, the latter of which Alex hated because of caravan raids. If he was the former however, he could prove useful in dealing with the tribes in the area. However, he was in no need to hire anybody.

"I'm sorry, but I have no open positions, you could try my........" Then suddenly, some random guy in a raggedy suit walked inside the bar and plopped a paper near Alex. Alex picked it up and scanned it.

"Well, it appears that you are in luck my friend. About ten guards walked off the job, and we need a new one. Our pay is 200 caps for a round trip, you provide the ammo and your gun, we provide shelter, food, and water."

Taking another slip from his Nuka – cola, David asked “So when are heading out? i've never been to shady sands but I hear good things about the town.” David asked.

"We're heading out in about a week and a half. Shady Sands is nice, but they depend on us for water supplies. In fact, everyone in this damn wasteland depends on us."

"and is that ghoul coming with us?, “ I’m no ghoul- hater but ghouls give off a practical bad “smell” that attracts dangerous things…” David said as he looked at ghoul.

Alex looked over at Xavier, "You can come if you'd like. We go all over and many waste-landers could use your repairing skills." Alex then looked over at David, "He might attract some molerats are scorpions, but nothing we can't handle."

Xavier drank his beer, "Sure thing smoothskin, better than I get payed for making the damn water in the first place.!

"He might attract some molerats are scorpions, but nothing we can't handle."

The chainsaw like chuckle again, "I can look after myself smoothie." Xavier opened his jacket to reveal his laser pistol. "But sure, fine, I'll come along with you. It's Xavier by the way but you can call me Xavi." He looked over at David. "It's still Xavier to you though."

OOC: I don't know if Ghouls actually smell like corpses, I think Randall Clark in Honest Hearts says that hey don't smell rotten; besides, it's not like anyone here is taking regular baths or wearing washed clothes.

Alex gazed in awe at the Laser pistol. Laser weapons were very rare in the wasteland. Alex had been all over the wasteland, and he had only seen a working laser weapon two times in his life. The first was at the Brotherhood. A paladin, who was escorting him down to the merchant trading hall, carried a laser rifle. This was the second. He had seen many broken laser weapons, but working ones were a rarity.

"Where did you find that gun Xavi? Seems in pretty good condition to me."

OOC: I don't think that that is changeable. If the VD didn't kill the deathclaw, the Hub would be burned, and that is not canon.
