Next Step for the NCR

when he dies there will be a power vacuum.

Actually the Legate will gain control.
People follow Caesar because they fear him and only him.

So you're saying they don't fear Lanius? Yeah, if anything they respect Caesar and fear Lanius.

Here's the thing, what happens to the NCR really depends on what the cannon ending of NV is, if the NCR ending is cannon then I doubt we'll see civil war in the republic any time soon, after all why would we they'll have won the was and with the income their getting from Vegas it should help to fix the economy. Now if the House ending becomes cannon then I think there's a really good chance the NCR will go through a civil war, either that or a all out collapse but since the NCR is the biggest faction post war to date and the most civilized then I really cant see the devs taking them out of the picture.

I agree and would add that civil war is less common in democracies than in dictatorships, which all the other factions are, because there's a legitimate way of getting rid of a bad government. Losing the Mojave would be more likely to result in a change of President than the end of the NCR. It would go back to lick it's wounds in California, protected by mountains, deserts and oceans.

To my mind the FO world is akin to Europe after the fall of the Roman empire, with tribal groupings, some with pre-fall histories, vying for power and establishing nations based on geography.

The threat of a Legion invation will keep the the people willing to fight. If anything a Legion Cival War is far more likely. If NCR has a crappy leader they can vote him/her out when time comes. Legion only have one leader and when he dies there will be a power vacuum. People follow Caesar because they fear him and only him.

Not really, if you kill Caesar with Boone he says that NCR Intel suggests that Cesar was largely removed from the military planning itself and has a whole mess of successors.

It couldn't be a full blown civil war, it'd have to be a rebellion. Nothing larger than WW2 resistance fighters in German-occupied countries. They have a few skirmishes here and there, but they're no where near being able to take out the NCR government.

And it also depends on what will become the canon ending for Fallout New Vegas. Speaking to NPCs, the main cause of the problem appears to be President Kimball. If it becomes canon that he survived the assassination attempts, then I could see a small resistance starting. And seeing as three out of the four main story lines hint to wanting him alive, I think it would become cannon.

But then again, it'd be a rather stupid move. The NCR's military is already in poor shape, with desertion rates high. If a coup occurred and the NCR government was taken over, then I could see a lot of the Army disbanding, leaving the federation unprotected. Raiders would pillage smaller towns, the Legion would regroup at Flagstaff and then be able to destroy major NCR towns, and even the Brotherhood of Steel (if they weren't destroyed) could get some of the action.

Which is why an NCR civil war would be awesome.

I think a civil war in the NCR would be a great idea. As of right now the NCR is just too powerful and the setting is starting to suffer from it.

Of course you'd have to couple it with a Legion collapse or it'd be pointless. Just trading one unbeatable superpower for another.

I really never heard anyone talk bad about cali. From what I gather NCR is a huge booming nation. What we see in the mw are like that ror 2 reasons.

1. If NCR is a perfect beast why even have the game. It would be over before it started.

2. As the Burned Man tells us in HH, NCR is having a real hard time with the divide. Says Caeser was lucky........ Says he was lucky, and and he got thrown off the Grand Canyon after being lit on fire. Burned Man says whole companies got swallowed up by it.

I was interested to get his take on it, and he is basically saying NCR has the power to not only hold the dam, but push into cl territory and kill leaders. According to Graham the divide it the only reason cl still stands as we know it.

I heard no mention of civil war in cali or even a thought of it. The way Kimbell and other NCR people talk the war with bos is either over or about over. Once NCR wins Vegas they will be able to focus more on securing towns. Plus no more loss of $ to House casinos.
