Respawning monsters.

How will Skyrim fare compared to MW and Oblivion?

I haven't played these games for years, but I do know I love them. But I can't remember how the spawning worked except in certain places. This dungeon respawn every 3 days and that in every 5, or something like that.

So, should it remain the same in days?
Should the monsters respawn and get stronger as you level up?
Should the respawn of tougher enemies in the same cave give better rewards?
Or should they just respawn as they were, with the crappy junk?

Or do you have any better ideas?

I'm curious. :)

I think monsters should respawn, yes, otherwise, the game would be empty. But it should be a longer period of time - especially human enemies. I'm thinking fortnightly for monsters and monthly for human enemies.

Containers shouldn't respawn unless the area where they are has been populated/re-populated by humans after your last visit.

Definitely. Though I don't know if it should be that long Hi!, they should respawn for sure either way.

Containers that don't respawn should be more easily identified rather then the 3 day trial and error test.

Dungeons should respawn with monsters/humans every 2 to 4 days and if they don't I will Rage. :flamethrower:

i don't think they should get stronger. they're tougness should already be predetermined. meaning stray off the beaten path and you'll come across all sorts of nasty things. you will be tougher than some but remember there's always someone tougher. kinda like that

It should vary from place to place. That cave near the city with low level bandits should have a short respawn as there is bound to be someone new who for whatever reason turns to crime. Other places should vary depending on the type of location and enemy that appears.

I doubt that it will happen, but I would love it if there was a very small chance that a unusual enemy moves in instead of what is typically called for. For example the road that usually has level 10 enemies ends up with a small bandit group on it with a boss of level 25 who is attempting to block the road. This would leave the choice of sneaking around, or provide a stronger character with the ocasonal unexpected challenge.

Presonally I would like areas to respawn occasonally even if I don't personally clear them. That out of place bear is either going to be killed by a patrolling guard/hunter, or it could wander back home. Don't make me have to be the one to kill it.

Except they already said it'll have Fallout 3 styled/inspired/similar monster scaling, so they're not fully predetermined.

------

Open world respawn in OB & FO3 was... monsters respawn if you haven't either been in, or loaded (I don't recall exactly which one), a map cell for three days.

I'm fine with that. And they should probably respawn based on the level scaling system (which means some things will get tougher, others won't at some point - Fallout 3's scaling system had limits on different enemy types.)

Not sure how important dungeon respawning is. I know it didn't happen in some of the previous games.

nope 3 days, i think 7 days would be a better number for respawn time.
