New Spells

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 6:01 pm

Think about it, in Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion you would get Summon Skeleton and to make it more powerful, you would have to buy a whole new spell - Summon Skeleton Guardian. What if you could just earn 'Magic Points' or whatever for leveling up in that certain school of magic and open up a menu which would allow you to give that creature new abilities or weapons.

My ideas: Zombie starts out with no armor or weapons and it pretty much svcks. Then, you could level up in Conjuration and get like 100 'Magic Points' and open up a menu in which you could spend those points for maybe a Steel Cuirass or a Steel Longsword. Or if you prefer to have your zombie just go nvde and hand to hand then you could upgrade attributes like Strength or Endurance and just a CRAZY idea..... Maybe the zombie could be a wizard? Shoot Paralysis spells or any Destruction magic.

I wanna hear your ideas! Post them!

Very nice idea, I was thinking about a new sub-category of destruction, involving "earth/nature" damage. Spells would include, "nature bolts" (aesthetically very different from the other three, maybe a rock flying at your enemies?), earthquakes, etc.
Btw, welcome to the forums.

I like the Upgrade idea. What I really want is to Be able to guide my fireballs. sort of like Might and Magic. like the ability to rapid fire or fire a tactical shot used to guide the bolt or whatever.

I never thought about Nature Destruction magic. That would be amazing to see in Skyrim. I would thoroughly enjoy smashing someone's face in with a boulder!

thatd be helpful
maybe a marker spell you hit the target with first and then all your other spells will arc towards the target after that so theres less chance of missing

So instead of purchasing a stronger version of said summon, you instead have a "pet" that you can summon and customize what it has equipped?

I see you are enjoying my old avatar. I made that gif, that's my character standing in the realm of madness.

Teleportation spell where you can go anywhere within 50 meters of your location providing it is within you eyeline, obviously can't use it to appear inside of buildings.

Would be great for sneaking or getting out of trouble, plus it would look super cool

As for your recommendations, they are good I never used cojuring so they won't effect me but it's a school that I think needs some improvment

Just an effect to differentiate a novice fireball spell from a mastery fireball spell, its just upsetting when a spell called Flare looks and feels the same as a Fiery Ball of Mass Death

I was thinking this as well. Spells like "stonefist" and petrify" from the dragon age series and I would welcome something a long these lines in an elder scrolls game. I like the earthquake idea as well. There is nothing wrong with fire, frost and shock but I feel like there is a lot of "destructive" force in Earth-type magic as well. Bring the fourth element into the equation.

Exactly! Becuase in Oblivion, by the time you were 100 in Conjuration, you would have 5 different Summon Skeleton spells and you would only use one. And it would be just great to choose what my pet was good at and it would add A LOT of personalization that would make the game more user friendly and unique for each player!

I think it would be cool to have a kind of weather spell that detects what wether it is, then casts a differnt spell depending. So in the sun it burns them, in a storm it electrocutes them etc, all using the enviroment. Or even have it so you can do differnt attacks with the same spell by holding down differnt keys, so you could blast them with lightening with one button combination, do a more powerful blast with another, or an AOE attack with another, or even create a massively draining effect that creates a whole storm... so you could have like, loaads of differnt effects all in all in one spell
