The Dragons (or "Fin Dovah" in Draconic ;D)

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 6:48 pm

Actually the thread title in Draconic should be "Fin Dova" not "Fin Dovah"... my mistake...

So, as in the nature of the thread title, im just here to keep you guys updated about MINOR details of the types of Dragons for game and lore sake... keep in mind only MINOR details that is just keeping some of the more interested out there up to date...

So all i want to talk about is The Dragons we know of in Cyrodil

First off, we know about Red Dragons and Black Dragons
*Red Dragons: were all eaten and enslaved by the Tseasci eons ago on Akavir whilst the...
*Black Dragons: escaped to the land of Po Tun (meaning Tiger Empire) on Akavir to live with the ironically named tiger people living there, the Po Tun. When the Black Dragons eventually died out during a war between the Po Tun and the Tseasci, the Po Tun changed there name to Ka Po Tun (meaning Dragon-Tiger Empire) and are dedicated to turning themselves into Dragons, only one has ever been able to do this...
*Tosh Raka, we may hear a bit about him in Skyrim as he is currently the biggest Dragon on Nirn who turned himself into a Dragon from a Ka Po Tun dedicated to the ancient Black Dragons who are thought to be extinct, however, The Black Dragons have made a return and are residing in and invading Skyrim under the name of...
*The Jill: These Dragons in paticular worship and serve....
*Alduin: the god who you also know by the name of "Akatosh". Except this time the Dragon god of time who helped create the world has returned to destroy it... and only the Dovahkiin can stop him. Alduin has a great impact on Nordic religion, as does...
*Ysmir: "The Dragon Of The North", Tiber Septim led a great life of epic achievments of conquest and otherwise, when he died he rose to Godhood known as "Talos" to most, however in Skyrim he is known as "Ysmir, Dragon Of The North" and is said to take the form of a Dragon when seen by mortals. Other than these great mythic Dragons of Nirn, there are also various...
*Other Dragons: who up to know have only been seen to have brownish/grey scales and as of yet have no know name or alligence... but there will most likely be many other types, we will find out about them all with the release of Skyrim. So watch out for them and stay 'toasty' (pun on Dragon incinerating fire breath abilities not intended) on your Dragon knowledge.

I really hope so. Different dragons with different abilities would really expand that part of the game.

Nice compilation of lore. Knew most of it but its always nice to refresh. And the Akaviri theories are reborn. I thought that black dragons and Jills were different though. Blacks being from Akavir and Jills only appearing to help Alduin/Akatosh

I vaguely remember lore about a red dragon names Rhindle that guarded the key to a white castle. And Grundle, a green dragon who gaurded the key to the black castle, a bridge, and a magnet. There was also a yellow dragon that kind of wandered around aimlessly.

That might be true, i just assumed seeing as thet are both Black Dragons, they may be different as Akavir probably has different relgions and thoughts and so Black Dragons possibly have never even heard of Alduin and the Jill (which i pronounce like "Kheel" because the "Gil" like just doesnt sound as threatning xD), on the other hand, the Akaviris may have a same religion and the Black Dragons believe in the coming of thier god Alduin, (who will probably have a different name in there religion) or something and have rallied on Skyrim to help for his return?

That make sense. Personally, I would love for there to be some more religious context in Skyrim. Kind of undecided how much info I want to learn about Akavir though. Almost like it as a mystery land...

Yeah, i also will prefer the Dragons to have a more viking feel, and not really have anything to do with Akavir, maybe these Dragons are actually Skyrim born Dragons and not from Akavir, and were merely dormant untill now, however you can't argue with the written Lore, if Bethesda say these Dragons came from Akavir, well... these Dragons came from Akavir.

Dovahkiin against Nirn's death and rebirth cycle. It's basically war against the Gods. Good luck with that...

Wow. Sounds like a bad recap of 24 with Martin Septim as the guest star.

I would love to see Ysmir, Dragon of the North, appear in all his ascended glory and give us a quest or 2. That would be badass.
