13 types of ore

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 6:05 am

Appears that there will be 13 different types of ore in Skyrim.

Will the player be able to mix these for different results?

So 1 copper and 2 tin blended would give you different effects than the ores alone?

That would be cool, and would lead to a pleasing level of complexity.

Ah, many happy hours to be spent hammering at a forge.

Well, I'd be surprised if it's not at least as complex as LOTRO's crafting system. In that game, you had to mix copper and tin to get bronze, which THEN was used to makes weapons/armor.

Or yes, maybe mixing certain ores won't unlock a new product, but in fact change the nature of the same weapon, like maybe make it sharper, but slightly easier to wear out. now THAT would create THE perfect crafting system

thats awesome, it would be cool if we could mix them but I have doubts that they are going to make them that dynamic.

You'd have to mix them to get certain compounds. For example, Bronze is tin and copper. Steel is Iron and Carbon.

Even if there are no alloys I'm sure that there will be a mod that will take crafting to new levels :) God Bless the Modders of TES and Fallout.
