13 Ore Types

Hopefully obsidian is one. Although it's basically glass, I just like obsidian better.

For the love of Nirn, please keep Obsidian, far away from my Skyrim!!! :hubbahubba:

I think it's possible that count will include non-weapon metals like gold. Also, you forgot silver, which in TES is a common ingredient in weapons.

It's possible (but probably not true) that this "elven glass" we've heard about once or twice is an actual ore. It's more likely to be a glass weapon in elven style, though.

Ah, but when you kill it it burns up while absorbing it's soul leaving a pile of bones so... Dragonskin, Dragonscales, and Dragon Meat are effectively unavailable as a result.

I'm hoping that they don't always burn up like that. Would be nice if, after we have already obtained all the dragon shouts, to have the option to harvest materials from them instead. We might even be able to do that anyway before absorbing their soul, would be quite simple to have a short delay between death and soul absorption for this purpose.

Some possible ore types from real world or previous ES games. things to be used for armour plates
Iron
steel
Copper
Tin

Mythril
Ebony
Glass
Stahlrim
Adamantium
chitin
bone mold
obscure daedric material
other strange rocks

Other possible crafting materials that aren't specifically ores but may have been counted as such:
Leathers and furs of various animals (boar, wolf, bear, dear, cow, tiger thingy, mamoth, random skyrim animals)
dreugh hide
troll hide
scamp skin
snake skin

Bone
Dragonskin/Dragonscale

Also, crafting could combine or treat these ores to form new materials such as:
Bronze
Steel
Daedric

other extras to be used in crafting!
gems
horns
bones
webs
teeth
blood/ectoplasm/powders
cloth
feathers
shells (crabs or dragons or whatever)

styles should be makeable aswell as materials!! i should be able to make orcish Armour out of glass. dwemer ebony!! elven bonemould!! each material should change the texture of the armour and have its own algorithms to change the stats,

Jack254, do you know what an ore is? Chitin and bonemold are not ores. And neither is steel.

I'm really hoping we won't see a "orcish" ore, like that book in Oblivion suggested.

did you not see the strikethroughs?

and..
i was thinking orcish was made like how samurai armour was made.. a combination of leather and metal (mind you, Japanese smiths were excellent with working metal)

No, I didn't notice that, but now I have, I don't see why you completely changed what was being listed when it's not what the topic is about.

And orcish is made of iron forged a special way. Presumably it would have some leather involved, but the majority of armour would need leather or similar to make them.

iron, steel, mithril, silver, adamant, ebony, glass.
Other than that I have no idea. I dont think daedric, as that is "raw ebony which has been refined using the craft and magical substances of the lesser minions of Oblivion." It would be cool though, if it required high enchant skill, a high level trapped soul and had a possibility of seriously going wrong.

Yes silver but also gold; not for armor but rings and decoration.
You don't mine steel you make it out of iron and coal.
Add coal and we are up to 11 ores, might have some other rare ones who is used to make other materials.

Not sure I'd want tin armour but if combinations are allowed, tin combined with copper makes bronze.

Do precious and semiprecious gems count as ore or not?
