85 magic spells....

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 3:28 am

It was said that you can make a fire spell turn to fireball, a flamethrower or something like that.
So does this mean that there is only 1 spell with fire effect? Because with that fire spell you can make it on touch or on target.

So using the above theory, does this mean we have 85 different magical effects?

I think there are 85 spells, but some spells can be cast in more than one way. I imagine there will be multiple fire spells, but each at a different 'level'

I think that things like drain health/drain fatigue are different spells, so that brings the number to...

Yea but drain is under one spell type simply as - drain. I see what you're saying though like drain health, magicka, stamina, and like absorb health, magicka, stamina, ect.

Technically, all the summon spells are seperate effects.

Drain health, drain fatigue and drain magicka are different spell effects, but drain attribute is one effect not eight. It can be applied to up to different attributes but it was one spell effect.

Damage health, damage fatigue and damage magicka are different spell effects, but damage attribute is one effect not eight...

Ehe other effects in oblivion were bound items. Each item was a different spell effect (helm, chest, gloves, greaves, boots, dagger, sword, bow, axe, mace...)

I agree, and if they did count as 8 than that would make skyrim have WAY less spells

Let me try to add to that list: Reanimate, lock, sanctuary, blind, sound, levitate, slowfall, jump...

85 different spells? Sounds like a good amount to me. Should be some pretty cool ones considering the amount we have this time.

I am pretty sure all of the fires are together, it just matters what button you press
and I think one of the bethesda employees did clear it up a while ago I totally forgot who but they said it was spell effects, however I think that spells and spell effects will be synonymous and their different levels depend on your skill, thats why we will not have spellmaking

Will strength of spell be like different levels (minor, moderate, superior) or it will be somehow differently implemented?
