We can destroy an economy...but can we help it?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ycZOPe19Sk - lovely.

In many previews, we've heard about the fact we can sabotage an economy in a city or town by destroying to crops, or damaging vital capital or exports. Which all sounds quite nifty, but unless there's a quest specific task of 'Burn dem crops', it's not much use - why make things more expensive for yourself?

I haven't heard any details on this, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but is there any way to help an economy? Buying up surplus in one town with a good harvest, thus restoring the crops price top acceptable levels, and then maybe selling it to another town with a poor harvest. Can we take it upon ourselves, not in any direct quest, but just as an aside, to rebuild broken capital, repair stuff, buy new machines, or anything like that to better an economy? For savvy players, this would mean putting in some extra time, but out of it getting better, cheaper items, and feeling good about helping out a small town.

If the economy system were really good, we would then have to deal with those consequences - helping town A out loads might damage the competitive exports of town B, etc.

Oh, that would be awesome. Or help the local woodcutter, to improve the production, and allow the town to make more profit.

I completely agree. It's a small feature that could go so far.

Though I assume we'll see plenty of "Of course not, that would interrupt my SMASH time!!1!" comments...

Buy things cheaper in town A, sabotage towns B economy and sell things for higher price there

But yeah, improving economy is a must, if we can break something there must be a way to fix it.

[sarcasm] there must be a perk for that :lmao:

Indeed, they need to think about more of these. But what they're doing for Skyrim seems like a step ahead the past games.

i would like to see your "job" affect the local economy. if you craft a bunch of armor and sell it then you should get less and less money the more you sell since there will be more of it floating around. at some point you should have to trek to another city to sell your stuff there instead to make a profit. the opposite would be true as well. if you buy alot of the iron ore or wood planks or whatever you use to make your stuff then it should get more expensive. supply and demand definitely needs to be in. hell it was in new horizons on snes back in the 70s.
