Peaceful dragons

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 7:09 am

Well, it is now confirmed that there will be peaceful dragons. Hum. Dragons with whom you'll be able to talk without being roasted is perhaps more accurate?

It's one of the (many) best news I have heard recently.

So let's speculate with enthusiasm.

Do you think we'll encounter the following?

Dragon questgivers? But what kind of quest do dragons provide? I don't know, maybe their eggs have been stolen by smugglers and they want to recover it... Well, I see well one of them landing on the main place of a city, burning a tree for the example, and saying that if he doesn't recover them within 3 days, he, his wife and their brethren would share their despair and grief with humans... Well, this could well create a poisonous sphere, since some people would be eager to denounce their neighbours. Or perhaps they simply wait in a cave and want you to find some rare artifact, which is a much more common way to give quest.
Hostile dragons with whom the combat may be avoided through negociation?
Dragons who want to get involved in Skyrim's politics? Or perhaps who want you to get involved in their clanic or religious wars?
Dragons offering services? For example, crafting things, or enchanitng weapons, or teaching spells and shouts? But what kind of money would be recognized by them?
Dragons who inform you about their mores, culture, history, religion, language and so on.
Apostate dragons who want to help you defeating Alduin?

Well, what do you think? Which possible things about this do you imagine? Let's speculate, as I said...

Here's an example:

You're walking along the road with a decent fame level, then BAM!!!!!

Ysmir, Dragon of the North: Hail, mortal. I would task you with finding a relic of ancient power!

Me: AWESOME!!!!!

I want to see a gentleman dragon, who will fly down to you and ask if you would like to a enjoy a nice cup of tea with him. Complete with top hat and monocle.

No, beer is for the peasants! An upper class individual would drink wine.
With cheese.

P.S: League of Legends ftw.

Not so sure i;d want peaceful or "good" dragons... but i'd certainly like dragons to be intelligent creatures that you can speak with (at your own peril). A lot will just attack you on sight or if you get too close, but some i'd like to see using words to deceive, manipulate or intimidate.

In the real world do ethnic groups blindly stick together for no reason other than their race?

I'm really looking forward to seeing how they do this. I'm glad they aren't just one dimensional monsters.

in the real world there isnt like 30 of one race left and there is no fight for extinction so it doesn't relate

I think Earth has a ripe history full of moments like that. The US went through this within most of our parents or grandparents lifetimes.

But I see what your trying to say.

This. :goodjob:

I don't expect them to be good, I just expect them trying to reach their own goals, sometimes through manipulations. And I see them as very cultured beings with whom you can learn much.

For the ones who wants me to indicate a source, I read it http://www.jeuxvideo.com/forums/1-19348-131914-1-0-1-0-news-recapitulatif-maj-02-06-2011.htm, in the dragon shouts section, but it's in French. Another confirmation is provided http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1197266-new-skyrim-info-coming-in-playstation-the-official-magazine/page__st__80, by BootySweat.

I don't want peaceful dragons. I think it's more likely that some dragons may decide to talk to you simply because there bored or because they've got some time kill... and you shortly afterwards. Haha

Where's the source. I only heard having conversation with dragons . I'm assuming they go like this:

"Die Puny Mortal".. "wait....its you"
"stop"
(long intresting lore adding conversation)
Later in conversation
(Dovahkiin Insults his kind)

Melt Dovahkiin Melt.

Maybe there are a view long ones. Or maybe you need to track down loads to add more pieces to the puzzle.

Maybe even a hard mission to capture one to get what you need.

Nor is this a fight for extinction considering it's confirmed you can talk to some dragons and it's confirmed there are an infinite amount in game. I'm not sure where you're getting this "30 left" thing from.

I can understand liking some clichés (in this case bad dragons). I just prefer them to have more depth.

I have to agree about not wanting 'good' dragons. Evil, just plain psychopathic, and neutral sounds about right to me. Even a neutral dragon should require a pretty good reason for being disturbed by a mere man or mer.

This isn't anything less than an invasion. I don't intend to do much talking. It's us, or them. I choose us!
