HDMI vs AV

Post » Fri Aug 21, 2009 6:26 am

Okay so today I finally got my HD cable box from Comcast. Now since my TV only has one spot for HD AV wires I had my cable box use the AV wires. Then I hooked up my 360 with the HDMI wire that came with my Elite and the old White and Red wires(for audio) to the ports next to it.Problem is with the HDMI wire everything seems to be so zoomed out.I tried go through the HDTV setting in my console but nothing changes the resolution.

So am I missing something or is that just what happens when you us the HDMI wire?

That's how it's going to be with any HD cables. The only reason it looked larger before is because it was taking the lower resolution image and stretching it to fill the display.

Ok well thats dumb.I guess I will just use the HDMI wire for my cable and the HD AV wires for my 360.

Well now I'm kind of curious. If you're using component then there shouldn't be any difference between them and HDMI. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean by "zoomed out" it sounds like you're using composite cables, which aren't HD.

By zoomed out do you mean everything like text just looks smaller or is there a black border around the image like http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3268/2578640590_648ae19e54_b.jpg?
