Armors without multiple parts

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 5:01 am

I'm starting to lose faith in the video game industry as a whole now, it's becoming obvious that the generations of nerds who started game companies to make games art peices for other nerds have grown up now to be corporate tools who make media for mass profit.

Beth is pretty much my last hope, if this starts to be true then i dont know what ill do.

To be a little more generous to all the 'corporate tools' out there, I would say rather that the generation of nerds who started game companies to make games art pieces for other nerds now find themselves responsible for the livelihoods of a lot of talented and hard working people with families to support, and they know that if their companies go bust in this economic climate there will be a lot of people out of work for a long time.

I don't think game developers are simply producing lowest-common-denominator garbage to make an easy buck, but the days when they could make huge, detailed and graphically lush games for a niche market are long gone - if they ever existed. Let's face it, if Skyrim had the graphics of Daggerfall, almost no-one (only the rabid fanatics or devoted enthusiasts) would buy it.

Guys, armor question is in the fan interview. As I said, it's not Fallout 3, one piece. Beyond that, stay tuned.

Yes - most of us have already seen that. That statement is most noteworthy for the fact that it actually completely fails to settle the issue. All it really does is say that the system won't be identical to FO3's.

A few specific things of note -

1. It doesn't contradict, or even address, the magazine quote.
2. It doesn't state that there will be multiple slots as we understand them (which, to me, makes it clear that there's at least a good chance that there will NOT be - if there were certainly going to be, he would've just said so).
3. It oddly makes it clear that whatever the system in mind is, it will NOT be revealed at E3. That can only mean that a final decision hasn't been reached or that it's not something that they want to receive the most possible press coverage.

At this point, I only see two main possibilities - either the planned system is already in place and it's both going to be something that will be different from multiple slots as we understand them AND it's something that they don't want receiving the sort of press coverage it would receive if it was announced at E3, or a final decision regarding the specific system to be used hasn't been reached, could well depend at least in part on whatever feedback they can get at E3, and they've set a deadline of the fan interview for the final decision.

And we'll just have to wait and see.........

It does actually settle the original issue. "Armors without multiple parts".. He confirms that there are http://twitter.com/#!/DCDeacon/status/73475846656098304, thus settling the original issue of this thread.

A comment that was made about attributes already has me concerned about the direction Bethesda is going. I would not at all be surprised to see this happen as it would be much easier on them. They would not have to worry about making all the different combinations look right. There is far more to games than graphics. Depth is a far more important quality. Hopefully as time goes on graphics will reach the point that other qualities have to be focused on. Simplification leads to games that are bought and resold multiple times at Gamestop because after a playthrough, or even half on one everything has been experienced and there is no real reason to keep the game any longer.

Well, it seems the greaves from http://i.neoseeker.com/n/4/spiderhero.jpg screenshot and http://attackofthefanboy.com/wp-content/gallery/skyrim-pre-e3-screenshots/skyrim-2.jpg screenshot are probably the same. The greaves do not match with http://cdnstatic.gamesas.com/akqacms/files/tes/screenshots/DraugrHero_wLegal.jpg

As you can see with the comparison:

This may mean the single-suit is indeed the cuirass and the greaves combined. Still, I hope not.
