PC Sounds + non-vanilla race = no sound

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 12:03 pm

I'm playing an Ohmes, from RBP. I'm also using PC Sound (gives alternate sounds/comments for PCs). I noticed awhile ago that most of the sounds don't work - the random comments, the combat sounds (attack, getting hurt, etc.), but I finally decided to troubleshoot it and found out why: non-vanilla races don't work properly. Is there any way to get them to work? I tried tagging PC Sounds with Voice-F, but that didn't work; AFAICT, there are no other tweaks or settings in Wrye Bash for this.

If you look in \Data\Sound\Voice\PCSoundsomename.esp, you will find a bunch of folders. Create a folder with the race's name (I'm not sure in your case, maybe "Ohmes"?), and copy the contents from one of those other folders into your new folder.

The option voice set http://theelderscrolls.info/?go=dlfile&fileid=432, should give the Ohmes Raht voices in game, and make them at least yelp and scream in combat.
You may need to use the CS to modify the voice used for your character, this may interfere with the voice set I linked to. I use the sound sets made by brucevayne, but I have not played an Ohmes Raht yet.

Yeah, I figured it out - there are folders for all the races (argonian, elf, dremora, imperial, redguard, nord); I only had Imperial in there, so of course it would only work for Imperials. I changed the folder name to High Elf on a hunch (Ohmes are referred to as Bosmer in game) and it worked! :D

I use brucevayne's sound sets too. Your link gave me a 404 error, though.

Oh, that's just the optional voice files for RBP, for Ohmes-raht. I've got those - they apply to NPCs only, and I'm playing an Ohmes anyway.

Check your meshes. MMM and OOO add hungers, so you should start there.
