horses? cool... now give us a CART!

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 12:08 am

I would like a cart to attatch to my horse to keep loot in. Daggerfall had a cart, so it only makes sense for skyrim to have one too.

Discuss.

Carts and carriages ambushed in the mountain roads... sounds cool. And please don't make them all look the same, giv'em some variation http://pixdaus.com/pics/IMwYMby7kgeL9hHqcK.jpg http://www.offbeatearth.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/half-car-half-horse-458x346.jpg

How about mules, which are go slowly and aren't ridable but can carry massive amounts of inventory? Great for roleplaying as a merchant between towns.

Yes, that way I can park my cart outside caves and dungeons. I wont have to fast travel back and forth like an idiot to carry all my loot back to Dovahkiin HQs.

While carts would be an awesome feature (though I think you would have to choose between riding the horse and using it to pull a cart), I don't think that it is a safe assumption that they are in. In fact, I would probably assume the opposite until we are told differently.

I'm no designer, so I have no idea about the technical aspects of vehicle (e.g. boats, coaches, etc) movement in the engine, but we have not seen vehicles move in the past in the Oblivion engine (similar to Skyrim's engine, but apparently revamped). Morrowind's engine was similarly limited. I don't think I've seen a mod that convincingly (or at all, for that matter) achieved vehicle movement in either engine, but I don't pretend to have comprehensive knowledge in that regard.

The fact that we have carriages in Skyrim COULD change the anolysis if they moved in real time (but I swear I remember reading somewhere that they were static--could have been forum speculation though).

Personally, I think carts would be awesome--especially if they slowed when heavily weighed down and you risked getting raided when using them. Also awesome would be NPCs traveling in caravans and alone with carts and carriages that could be attacked by the PC or that the PC could be paid to guard, etc.

That said, I doubt any of those things are in the game. But we may see differently tomorrow!

Well put, the cart in Daggerfall was a hobby horse you equipped. You could equip it everywhere outdoor like on top of roofs

It would be really interesting to see traveling merchants with carted horses and the lot.

And I hope our character can do anything the NPCs in the world could do, like driving a cart, if in the game.

that......this....etc.

it would be awesome to have a couple of companions with you and you could leave one or both of them to guard the cart while you went in and cleared out a dungeon.

I wouldn't mind. Or maybe they'll let s buy/steal the carriages in place. We already know boats can't be PC sailed but nothings been said about them.

But sure, saddle bags or carts attached to your horse/horses sounds like a solid addition.
