Too Dark

Skyrim so far looks to be a generic "Conanesque" winter wasteland

How many screenshots have you seen? One or two?

Well, it's very dark because nuclear blasts tend to kill things. And plants haven't been able to regrow en mass yet.
Edit: Oh, and theres very little electrical/fossil fuel lighting

That may have something to do with it :P

Fallout was fun to me, and I enjoyed exploring it. I generally prefer dark themes, or at least darker themes, so I'm hoping Skyrim doesn't end up like an episode MLP.

You know what's really hard to pull off, but is really satisfying when done so? Creating a lush beautiful scene that feels dark, creepy, or gritty.

When it is done its amazing. I hope they add environments like this into Skyrim.

I'd like a nice mix.

I want some areas to be dark, grim, epic, and moody... and others to be bright, jolly, and quaint.

This^

And I loved the fallout 3/NV world, oblivion was cool, but a little dry. Im excited for skyrim, cause they have learned a lot about map building from fallout 3, and a lot about cool features that make the game better(crafting,HC,ect) from NV. I think its going to be an amazing game.

I was playing a little bit of FO3 this weekend and it donned on me why fallout is so bad comparatively to the elder scrolls. While the world has a plethora of different objects and scenery every little bit of it is dark and dingy. This is what made the fallout world no fun to explore, and the Oblivion/Morrowind ones so great to explore.

I know that there is a lot of lush scenery in Skyrim, what I want to know is will the attitude surrounding the game be too "gritty"? Will I ever feel happiness for my character in the game.

Note: I didn't necessarily like the mood in Oblivion, it felt too medieval.

I actually prefer darker worlds. Why? Because dark is awesome and light-hearted is over done and boring. The best color in the world is grey. A perfect mix of dark and light, the best of both worlds.

Outdoors, it should be dark in the evening and even more so at night. Indoors, should use realistic light sources. I want it to be darker than Fallout 3.

(But then again, The Darkness II will come out soon. I wonder if Mike Patton does the voice of The Darkness again. I'm too lazy to look it up. Did I say that out loud? Don't mind me :) )

Morrowind was exactly better than OB partly because of a darker feel. I'm glad to see it return in Skyrim.

Oh and Fallout 3 is vastly superior to Oblivion
