Which types of magic will you be using regularly in Skyrim?

Which magic skills will your main character be using quite a bit (and not just spamming to level up :P)?

I prefer to use conjuration as my main attack and use paralyze/silence/restore health/shield to help from a distance. I always thought that Destruction was over-powered, so I never used it. I went through the entire game with only 1 ranged spell that I custom made at a mid-way point in the game. And even that spell was barely used.

As a Battlemage, Alteration and Destruction will probably be my most used types of magic, followed closely by Illusion if it has some good crowd control spells.

All, except Conjuration and Enchanting. I will boost one of them after I'm done with my main seven, although it remains to be seen which one. I would prefer Conjuration if it's been overhauled, as I want to feel like a true archmage, able to raise several powerful familiars to do battle for me. However, if it's still like Oblivion (why bother summoning one measly little critter, when I can easily destroy the opponents on my own?) then I'll go with enchanting.

As a stealthy Bow & Arrow type character I plan on using alchemy for poisons on my arrows and enchanting because these kinds of characters don't tend to get far without some decently enchanted armor.

I'd have to say alchemy, alteration, and conjuration. Conjuration will be replaced by destruction if it isn't improved somehow from oblivion.

Isn't Alchemy for thieves?

I'll be using Conjuration if it includes Necromancy spells and perks. Destruction, too.

Speaking of Conjuration.....if we dual wield those spells, we should get more minions, right?

Also, one of my Main characters is a pretty pure mage, so he will at least dabble in everything, but of coarse Destruction, Restoration, and Alteration will be heavily used.

Cant see myself not making my own potions, and of coarse I'll enchant my own items.....I hope illusions get some more creative spells - illusions should be flashy!

Destruction and Restoration are usually a basic "must have" on all my characters whether I'm playing a stealth/assassin or more of warrior type, but there are the occasions where I like to use conjuration instead of destruction or restoration.

Yep, it's been moved to stealth, so it should probably be removed from the poll.

Anyway, any magic that explodes for me! I'll be playing a "stealth" character with a dagger in one hand and a fire spell to lay traps or for when crap hits the fan and I need "fire" power. Excuse the pun :flamethrower:

What I always do with my first playthough and that is the use of destruction to see just how powerful I can make them for my battlemage. Specifically pyromancy and more so if they have different perks to build up on in regards to different elemental magic like fire or frost.

That and a bit of experimentation with alchemy.

Every character I've ever made has used Restoration extensively. The others, not so much.

(of course, with the new combat system not letting you block while having a sword & heal spell readied, that may change. But I'll still probably use Resto for recovery between fights.)

Illusion.

Invisibility + Fury = Win. Then you have detect life, night-eye, paralyze, chameleon, etc. Should be epic.

Since I'll be playing a warrior with sword and shield, I'll use destruction for the versatility it provides (attacking from the distance, setting elemental traps, AOE...)

I'd like to get more info on the other schools though, particularly alteration and enchanting.

conjuration to summon enemy magnets and alchemy to make poisons, perfect combo to sneak in so axe blows or arrows from the side
and some restoration and illusion just to make it easier to heal and sneak

I use alchemy for pretty much everything, and will use everything else a little except for destruction, conjuration, and restoration.

Destruction for Offense, and Restoration to stay alive are my main focuses.

In addition to this, I will obviously enchant all of my stuff and will make potions for optimal combat performance.
