Companion Combat

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 11:33 pm

One thing about oblivion that drove me nuts was having to fight with companions. Don't get me wrong, I love the concept, just didn't like Oblivion's implementation of it. My problem was that I would constantly hit and kill my companions. Is there any info on Skyrim that suggests a better implementation of companion combat? Bring me up to speed!

Well, I'd guess that magnetism would nearly eliminate the difficulty of avoiding hitting your companion while in battle.

Well I hope there will be some improvement over vanilla Oblivion combat AI, it have nice features but such features was not used in full potential, anyways there always can be mod for this, I hope Creation Kit will provide us great flexibility and many possibilities to improve features what devs avoid by some reason.

I LOVED having companions along in Oblivion -- added by mods, however, with heavily player-scripted and finely tuned AI. Bethesda companions were silly. If Bethesda can at least copy the AI used in mods like Companion Neeshka, allowing the player to issue simple orders, I'll be happy.

EDIT: To answer your question, there's no news yet. I'm hoping we get a companion demo in the E3 coverage.
