Killing Guards

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 11:41 am

I wonder if killing guards will be like in Oblivion where killing guards resulted in all guards knowing it was you who killed him or her. I thought that was stupid and unrealistic. I know Skyrim will have a different bounty in each city but I'm hoping all guards have a different awareness of there surroundings and don't all know that I decided to kill the guard in the ally or out in the forest.

I agree, but if you are seen killing a guard by another guard, it should be an instant death penalty (ie: you can't pay it off with a bounty.)

yeah in oblivion you could destroy entire citys and guards would basically say the same as they would if you has 1 gold bounty

it would be pretty cool if you had a massive bounty from killing guards and they would be scared of you

You stole an apple, Then pay with your blood. You killed five guards, Then pay the bounty!

I believe that for Oblivion there was a "No Psychic Guards" Mod that fixed this problem. I do believe that the guards should not be able to detect you that easily as they did in earlier games. I mean if you kill a person while they are in the basemant of their home and all they do is whine and die, how do guards immediately detect that it was you? Simple answer, in Morrowind and Oblivion guards are Psychic.

I heard somewhere that the people are just as stupid when someone is stealth killed. Dunno if that includes the guards.

I wouldn't mind if all guards new of your crime, but it shouldn't be an instant news sort of thing, it should be like after a certain amount of time the news spreads to other locations where the guards there would then learn of your crimes. It could spread via messenger or courier, Black Horse Courier comes to mind for wanted posters of the PC for example.

Yeah that would be realistic of course that should only apply if there was a witness to your crime.

Too bad there couldn't be a court system like in Daggerfall that you could schmooze your way out of.

Judge: "You are accused of murder!"

PC(with high speechcraft): "She was a Daedra worshiper."

Judge: "Well, in that case you're free to go."

Never played Dagerfall but ya that would certainly make it more interesting.

Judge: "How do you justify your murder of (insert name)?

Player (with low speech skill): "She looked at me funny."

Judge: "Put this trash in prison!"

That would be ideal. Make the news travel with people so I can deliberately cut off an entire town or village from the news by killing everyone who travels there.

I ought to go lore-nut on your choice of justification, but I have no clue of the legal and communal acceptance of Deadric worship.

If i remember correctly from Morrowind and Oblivion. In Morrowind daedra worship was allowed depending on the daedra, Sheogorath worship was punishable by death for example, as for the other provinces i know it was outlawed in Cyrodiil and i'm assuming the nords are not to fond of it either

It wasn't outlawed in Oblivion, people just misstrusted those who did it. But, yeah I have a feeling the Nords won't be too happy with daedra worship.

in many provinces where the human population dominates (such as Cyrodiil), daedra are considered outright evil, and daedra worship is outlawed. This does not stop cults of daedra worship from popping up across Tamriel, and in some locations their worship is accepted, or at least tolerated. In particular, the Dunmer of Morrowind align themselves much more closely with the Daedra Princes, primarily Azura, than any of the Nine Divines.

I agree with this.

Also they should start shouting "Alarm, Alarm. Murder, Murder. A guard is down!"

Or something, that way when 6 guards from the area come running your way its not because of telepathy.

Honourable and braver citizens should try and restrain you.

Also when your a master of sneak and you thump a NPC with x6 sneak and they go sprawling to the earth, right next to their buddy who up and until 10 seconds ago they were having a nice little chat with, the living NPC shouldn't just wander off as if nothings happened.

Are dragons by any chance linked to the Divines or Daedras?

Haven't read much of the lore, so if dragons are, it could justify worshipping of this or that?

Dragons, according to lore, are the angels of Alduin and his counterpart what's-his-face, one of which is a Divine and other being the Nordic pantheon's equivalent. God, what's the name -- I'm on my phone or I'd look it up.
