Redguard Armor

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 12:03 am

When looking at the game Redguard, I'm kinda seeing Redguards looking like the Carthaginians from Tunisia in Africa who were the mighty empire that first opposed the Roman Empire in what is known as the Punic Wars

Bethesda made vids of Hammerfell

I'm still hoping for more race specific armors for my characters. For Redguards I'm thinking a better TES version along the lines of Carthaginian

not the best pix, what do you reckon?

I think it looks a little like the Oblivion Dwarven armor which is an armor many Redguard collectors pride in.

I would like it I guess. Not race specific armor, but culture specific. Imperials wear regal looking roman style, Orcs were heavy, darkened steels with horns. Redguards wear dark leathers and irons, etc.

I'd like to see races have their own look rather than all of them being based on historical civilizations. Loose similarities are fine, but I don't think Bethesda should concern themselves too much with Reguards being Carthaginians, Imperials being Romans, Nords being Vikings, etc...

This is a fantasy game after all, not a Total War game.

When the designers and the artists start to design them they take them to a whole new level of uniqueness. I think that loosely basing them on areas of Earth we know as it gives us something we can relate to and understand.

When I see a Nord I picture a powerful viking style character armed with sword and axe and very fierce. The beauty of TES is that we aren't limited to the extent that this character can become. That is the point to fantasy. We can mold the world we see into something we wish it was.
