Dear Splash Damage

Dear Splash Damage,

You've heard this before and for that I'm sorry. I'm also truly sorry that your game seems to be having so many problems, I honestly couldn't have sent more positive energy your way. I spent the last year, hyping your game and doing my best to explain to my "console" gaming friends that you had made good games in the past and that this would be another in a long line of successful Bethesda releases. See, when you first started promoting your game, I, like many people heard Bethesda's name first. That was the name that drew me in. Bethesda has a history of putting out the best games this generation (in my opinion) and I figured you would do right by them. As a long time gamer and very rare poster I assumed the game would release with bugs and lag and although we're all aware that the PSN going down didn't help your testing of online, I sort of figured you might have tested the online matchmaking, before. I've kept your game (Partially because I'm too shamed to return it after the amount of hype I gave it to my friends.) I hop online everyday. I read the forum posts, I read your news updates. I look for patch notes. I want to love your game! I want my friends to play your game.

There is no doubt in my my mind YOU (splash damage) want this game to work far more than I do. I paid $59 and you paid blood, sweat and I'm sure now, tears. The majority of issues with the game are detailed fairly thoroughly on your forums by your supporting fans. The people that paid. And honestly what it all comes down to is that no one paid $59 for your single player, which as fun as it was (and it was fun!) isn't multiplayer. We drop sixty dollars after a year's wait because we want to destroy each other. Our friends, our enemies and families. I want to free the ark from the totalitarian Security but my team is full of bots. I can't issue commands to my bots, or plot the destruction of the tower because bots don't communicate. When we do play single player we hope it's not the same maps flipped and played from opposite sides. If lag wasn't a problem your game might cross genres but until then it feels like a short changed singleplayer with a beta of multiplayer.

I, a patient and understanding gamer was blown away by your previous quick fix, limiting in game players to 4 for the sake of increased connection. The back of your game case says 2-16 Network Players. Not 2-4. Not to beat a dead horse, but your 1.02 patch has caused my first wave of connection lost messages, which seem to become more frequent by the day.

If you're unsure how to proceed for PS3 updates my advice is as follows:
First, Lag.
Second, Ability to turn off Bots in multiplayer.

Last but certainly not least, the forum pitbulls. I respect the designers and creative masses that must have been involved in the creation of this game, a game I want to love, have followed and proudly advertised until a couple days after release. Now I wait. If as a fellow member of this forum, you disagree with what I say, great. I encourage it, only with multiple opinions and the words of the true fans will WE get to enjoy OUR game. With that said. Be intelligent. I'm not needlessly bashing this game. I'm a paying member, a fan, and a gamer and I hope the community can reel back in it's guard dogs and stop attacking people that are trying to provide constructive criticism.

Thanks for your time Splash Damage, I look forward to fragging you soon!

Try the Splash Damage forums. However, what you just said has been said already many times on those, and these, forums.
