Reducing the harsh clipping of distant land?

I enjoy playing the game without MGE's distant land, but the thing that really annoys me is the harsh, sudden clipping of polygons of the landscape in front of you. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

I don't care about draw distance - it's not a matter of whether I can see far or not. I am totally fine with Morrowind's default draw distance (which is around half at default). I'm talking about how the polygons get cut off abruptly. And you move the mouse around, you can see polygons appearing and disappearing.

Is there a way to smoothen this out? For example, making the polygons blend into the fog better, so that any clipping occurs BEHIND the thickest fog, so I don't see the polygons getting cut off?

If the only way to achieve this is with MGE, then fine, I'm willing to accept. I'd appreciate some help one what settings to change to simulate vanilla draw distance, but if possible, I don't want the vanilla polygon clipping...

I would say use MGE XE, with a draw distance of one and auto set other distances by draw distance, with near distance static size set to something low. You might have to play around with it all a little. Anyone else?

I've never tried MGE XE, I've only briefly seen screenshots of it. Is it stable enough for normal gameplay?

I use the latest beta release of MGE, with Above Water Fog set at 0,2 - 1,0. It looks fairly smooth to me.
